Bathroom resealing in Fordingbridge, done properly
Homes in Fordingbridge have the same weak spots as anywhere else: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. We work on baths, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units, and people most often call us about leaking joints on a shower screen and sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away.
Smaller places like Fordingbridge still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Older or newer, every room gets the same approach: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, in Fordingbridge and everywhere else we cover.

Signs you need bathroom resealing in Fordingbridge
With age, silicone loses its stretch. In kitchens it often shrinks away from the back edge, leaving a thin gap where water and food collect. Heat from the hob and strong sprays speed it along.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
- Smears of silicone across the tiles
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
For an older house near a landmark such as St Mary's Church, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.
Questions to ask before booking
- Who does the work, and how experienced they are
- Are they insured?
- Whether the sealant suits the joint
- What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
Leave it or put it right?
A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Water that gets behind a bath soaks into the floor, the panel and sometimes the ceiling below, and that is a far bigger job than a reseal. Around Fordingbridge, water from a failed joint in an older home can soak into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the sealant itself.
Doing several joints on one visit normally makes better use of the time than several visits. We will give you a clear price for the lot.

What happens on the day
The work is kept neat and contained to the area we are working on. Expect the work to take a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers, and we explain the cure time before we leave. A visit to Fordingbridge is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about any water getting in
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can

Looking after it afterwards
A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:
- Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead
- Move toiletries away from the joint
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
- Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint and keep hot pans away from the silicone. The drier the joint stays, the longer it lasts.
Watch for the early signs: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.
FAQs for Fordingbridge
Do you cover smaller places like Fordingbridge?
Yes, Fordingbridge is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Is there a guarantee on bathroom resealing in Fordingbridge?
Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?
Yes, often alongside a bathroom. Where it’s needed by the sink, we use a food-safe sealant.
Do you work for letting agents?
Yes, often. We can quote for several properties at once, and between tenancies is a good time for the work.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
We work from Crawley. Our applicators cover Fordingbridge.
Can I choose the colour of the sealant?
Most people choose white or clear, but other colours can be used to suit tiles and worktops. Let us know your preference when you ask for a quote.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Of course. Doing several areas at once is normally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
How the job changes by surface
Baths
Most bath leaks begin along the long edge, especially under a shower. It gets one smooth bead of anti-fungal silicone, tooled so water cannot sit on it.
Wet rooms
If a wet room leaks, the cause may be the tanking or the drain rather than the joints. We reseal the joints and will tell you if the water seems to be coming from somewhere else.
Should I try it myself first?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.
