Common questions in Neatham

Do you take on hotel work around Neatham?

Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Work can be planned room by room, and out-of-hours working can be arranged.

Is Neatham within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.

When can I use the bath or shower again?

The surface skins over fairly quickly, but the bead needs longer to cure right through. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often happy for the work to be arranged.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator and we are fully insured too.

Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?

Yes. Once mould has grown into the silicone, it normally can’t be cleaned out for good, so the bead comes out, the joint is treated and new anti-fungal silicone goes in.

Should I try DIY first?

For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.

Bathroom resealing in Neatham

A fresh bead of silicone changes how a bathroom looks more than most people expect. Mouldy silicone makes even a new bathroom look neglected, and a neat new joint puts that right in a short visit. It also seals the gaps that let water behind the bath. Common call-outs are for smears of silicone across the tiles and new sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting, on basins & vanity units, baths and kitchen worktops & upstands.

Being in a small place like Neatham makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

There’s a 12-month guarantee on every job, whatever its size.

Neatham homes and their sealant

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in. There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Neatham. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room.

Managing a site like Andrews' Endowed Church of England Primary School? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. For landlords with property near Alton station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

What we do, step by step

A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, protect the area around them, do the work and clear up. Most jobs take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. For a village or hamlet like Neatham, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Before we arrive

  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area

Advice

Do you need bathroom resealing in Neatham?

Sealant laid on a damp, dusty or greasy joint never bonds properly. Soap residue, oils and leftover silicone film all get in the way, and a joint that looked fine soon begins to come away.

The most common problems we see are:

  • Water escaping at the shower enclosure
  • Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • Water getting behind the bath panel

If you live in an older home near Holy Rood Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

What your quote should include

  • How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
  • How long the guarantee is
  • Who turns up on the day
  • Whether all the old sealant comes out first

10 questions to ask before you book

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so we plan the work room by room. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.

What we can’t put right

We’d rather tell you now than do work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve

If you’re not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we seal

  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands

Keeping the joints in good condition

So the new joints stay in good condition:

  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Keep bottles off the sealant line

Treat the new bead gently when you clean: a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth is enough. Scourers and blades can nick the surface, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.

Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.

Surface by surface

Wet rooms

Not every wet room leak is a sealant problem. We check the joints and say so if the fault looks to be elsewhere.

Shower trays & enclosures

Shower trays are sealed to the wall, and enclosures are sealed to the tray and tiles. Both take water every day, so each is cut out and renewed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Access and height
  • The type of sealant required
  • The old material and how stubborn it is

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Asking for a quote

You don’t need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:

  • The type of property
  • A few pictures by email, if you can
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • The address or postcode of the job

If you are in Neatham and need bathroom resealing, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email. Tell us what the problem is and where, and we’ll agree the price before any work begins.
