Should I try it myself first?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.

Bathroom resealing in Highwood: local notes

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

For an older house near a landmark such as St John the Baptist, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Managing a site like Poulner Infant School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Highwood is about 2 miles north-east of Ringwood, in Hampshire. Wherever you are in the BH24 postcode area, we can carry out bathroom resealing at your property. Across Hampshire, we cover 683 places, Highwood among them. Southampton is on our list too, around 16 miles away.

We work across the BH24 postcode area for bathroom resealing. Nearby, we also carry out bathroom resealing in Hangersley (1 mile south), Rockford (1 mile north-west), Shobley (1 mile south-east), Forest Corner (1 mile south-east) and Blashford (1 mile west). Within a short drive, we also cover Totton (12 miles east), Lymington (12 miles south-east), Romsey (15 miles north-east), New Milton (9 miles south-east), Barton on Sea (10 miles south-east) and Dibden Purlieu (15 miles east).

What affects the quote in Highwood

We don’t publish a price list. The quote depends on:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • Whether the work is at height
  • The old material and how stubborn it is

What it costs depends on how much there is to do, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. You will have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

What to tell us for a quote

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:

  • The rough size of the job
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • A few pictures by email, if you can
  • The problem you’ve noticed

Every job is quoted individually, so start by telling us what you need. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details, and pictures are welcome.

Why act early in Highwood

A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it won’t bond. It lifts, traps water and grows mould behind it, so the next person has twice as much to remove. Around Highwood, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.

Highwood: your questions answered

Do you cover smaller places like Highwood?

Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Is there a guarantee on bathroom resealing in Highwood?

Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Where are you based?

We’re based in Crawley, West Sussex, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.

What do you put in the joint?

We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we’ll explain our choice.

Is it messy?

We keep the work tidy. Nearby surfaces are protected.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure your landlord agrees.

How long does a bath or shower reseal take?

It depends on how many joints there are and how much old sealant has to come out. For most single baths or showers, allow a couple of hours.

Can you work on commercial sites?

Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do. Working times can be discussed when we quote.

Looking after it afterwards

After the cure time, these simple habits help:

  • Keep bottles off the sealant line
  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up

In a kitchen, don’t let water sit along the back of the worktop and keep hot pans away from the silicone. A dry joint lasts longer.

There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Sealant is a maintenance item, like the paint on a window frame, and renewing it as soon as it fails protects everything around it.

How it works

Every visit runs the same way: we check the joints, protect the area around them, carry out the job and clear up. It usually takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included. Somewhere like Highwood needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  3. Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, normally after around 24 hours.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Let us know about parking restrictions
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

What sealant work can’t fix

To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:

  • A leaking waste, trap or valve
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint

If you are not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we seal

  • Baths
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Wet rooms

What the job involves on each surface

Shower trays & enclosures

The vertical joint where a screen profile meets the wall is a common leak point. It’s resealed along with the tray joints, following the enclosure maker’s guidance on which side to seal.

Sinks & splashbacks

Next to the sink, the sealant has to cope with constant water, and a food-safe product where it’s needed. The bead is finished smooth so it wipes clean.
