Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Cuxton

A fresh bead of silicone changes how a bathroom looks more than most people expect. Mouldy silicone makes even a new bathroom look neglected, and a neat new joint puts that right in a short visit. Just as important, it closes the gaps water would otherwise get through. We work on shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and wet rooms, and people most often call us about mouldy sealant that has gone black and a joint torn by a bath that flexes.

Being in a small place like Cuxton makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

Different surfaces, different methods

Shower trays & enclosures

A tray that rocks will split any sealant. We check for movement before we reseal, and if the tray needs refixing, we will say so.

Basins & vanity units

Basins take less water than showers, but the joint behind them is splashed every day. Corners behind basins are where mould tends to start, and we treat it exactly as we would a bath.

Common questions in Cuxton

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Cuxton station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Do you cover smaller places like Cuxton?

Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Yes. Just list everything you need and we will quote it together.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Just the basics: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Will there be a smell?

That depends on the sealant. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.

Which products do you use?

We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Movement, water and weather all affect the choice.

Can I choose the colour of the sealant?

There’s a choice: white, clear and colours to suit tiles and worktops. We’ll talk it through when we quote.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned.

The process

We keep the work tidy and contained to the joints we are treating, so you can get on with your day. The job usually takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. Somewhere as small as Cuxton, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead.
  2. We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
  4. We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
  5. We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

It all starts with a short chat. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we will explain how we’d tackle it. Whenever you’re ready, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Common problems we fix in Cuxton

Black mould is behind a lot of resealing. Bathrooms without good ventilation keep the silicone damp for hours, and mould that has grown into the silicone usually will not clean off.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A reseal done over the top of the old bead
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
  • Failed sealant on the screen profile
  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved

Schools such as Cuxton Community Infant School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

What to look for in a quote

  • Is VAT in the price?
  • How much experience the applicator has
  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why

Bathroom resealing in Cuxton: local notes

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Michael and All Angels, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Letting a property close to Cuxton station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

Leave it or put it right?

Mould removers can fade the surface of a stained bead, but mould that has grown into the sealant tends to return. The lasting answer is to remove the bead and start again. Older cottages and farmhouses around Cuxton can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll go through it with you.

Should I try it myself first?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple:

  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then
  • Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
  • Do not let bottles sit on the bead
  • Use gentle cleaners on the silicone

Check the sealant now and then. A small split or a corner lifting is easy to spot, so if something doesn’t look right, just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Small signs come before a leak: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. Any of these means the joint needs attention.
