Window mastic for homes and businesses in Taplow
Around Taplow we seal all kinds of frames: from uPVC casements to timber and aluminium, plus patio doors, French doors and sills. Each gets a sealant chosen for the frame and the wall it meets. If you have white mastic on grey or black frames and mastic that’s falling out in pieces, we can put it right, on composite doors, aluminium frames and uPVC windows alike.
Mastic can only go onto a dry, clean joint, so window work in Taplow is booked around the forecast. Tell us about access to every side of the house, including upper-floor windows.
Our work is backed for twelve months.

Why it’s worth doing now in Taplow
A quick bead over the top of old mastic looks like an easy fix, but new sealant can’t bond to old, crumbling mastic. It soon lifts and the leak carries on behind it. The old mastic has to come out. In a small place like Taplow, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we will explain what it covers.

Signs you need window mastic in Taplow
Every frame moves through the day. A plastic or aluminium frame lengthens in sunshine and shortens as it cools, while the brick or render around it hardly moves. If the sealant can’t stretch, it splits.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Untidy mastic left by window fitters
- Old mastic that has gone black or come away
- Sealant in the wrong colour for the frame
- Hard, cracked sealant around windows
Homes close to Church of St Nicolas include some older properties, and replacement windows fitted into old openings often leave uneven gaps that need backing and a flexible joint.

Questions from Taplow
Will you come out to Taplow?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Do you work for landlords with property near Taplow station?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details for a clear quote.
Is it worth trying it myself?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.
Can new window sealant be painted?
That depends on the product. Some hybrid sealants can be painted; silicone can’t. Mention any painting plans before any work starts.
Are you insured?
Yes. We are fully insured, and we’ve been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
Can you seal over the old sealant?
No, it will not last. It may look fine at first, but the new bead soon lifts. The old sealant has to come out completely.
What does window mastic cost?
Every job is different, so each one gets its own quote. To get one, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a short description of the job.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
Should I try it myself first?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
Taplow homes and the weather
Rainfall in the South East is lower than in much of the UK, but outside sealant still needs a dry, clean surface, so outdoor work is planned around the forecast. Historic houses like Cliveden (about 1.8 miles north) are a reminder that the area around Taplow has older buildings as well as new. In older buildings, older frames set in brick or stone need a sealant that suits them, and sometimes that is traditional sand mastic.
If you let a flat or house near Taplow station, renewing tired window mastic between tenants heads off draught and damp complaints. Managing a site like St Nicolas' Church of England Combined School? Then larger buildings have plenty of frames, and the mastic around each one ages.

Quotes for window mastic in Taplow
For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:
- Whether the work is at height
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- The number and length of the joints
- Working hours on commercial sites
Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.
Asking for a quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- The address or postcode of the job
- Roughly how big the job is
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
Call for a quick quote, or send an email if you’d rather. Describe what needs sealing and we will talk you through the work and send you a clear quote.
Surface by surface
Composite doors
If the door itself is draughty, the issue may be the door seals or hinges rather than the frame mastic. We seal the frame and let you know about anything else.
Aluminium frames
Aluminium needs a sealant that bonds to coated metal and we avoid acetoxy silicones, which can react with some metals. Neutral-cure sealant is the safe choice.
What happens on the day
When we get to you, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes anything from an hour or two to a full day, depending on how many frames there are. For a village or hamlet like Taplow, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- First, we go round the frames with you and agree the list.
- The old mastic is cut out and scraped back to clean surfaces.
- Where the gap is deep, backing rod goes in first.
- The new sealant goes on in white, brown, anthracite grey, black or clear to suit.
- Every joint is tooled smooth and checked before we leave.
How to prepare
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
