Bicester Window Mastic
Window mastic for Bicester and the surrounding area: careful preparation, the right product and tidy work. Call for a quick quote.
- Hard, cracked sealant around windows
- Whistling draughts around closed windows
- Mastic that is falling out in pieces
Leave it or put it right?
Not every sealant suits a window. Interior caulk and bathroom silicone are not made for exterior frame joints. An exterior, low-modulus sealant stays flexible in sun and frost. Black mould and gaps in sealant do not fix themselves, and in a busy household in Bicester they spread with every shower and every downpour. Replacing the sealant now is the simplest fix.
We do not show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll talk you through it.

About our window mastic in Bicester
Colour matters on a frame. White, brown, anthracite grey, black and clear sealants are all available, so the line suits the frame instead of standing out. If you have cracked sealant at the sill ends and cracked or shrunken mastic around the frame, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
In a town like Bicester, older houses sit alongside newer estates, with windows of every age. All of them depend on a sound bead of mastic between frame and wall.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right with it in that time, tell us and we will put it right.

What we cannot put right
To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:
- A frame that has rotted at the joint
- A failed sealed unit that has misted up
- Penetrating damp from a failed cavity tray or render
If you’re not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Composite doors
- Window sills
- uPVC windows
- Patio & French doors
- Aluminium frames
- Timber windows & doors
Can I do it myself?
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
The process
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we’ll take it from there. The work itself takes a morning for a couple of windows and a door, including the tidy-up. In Bicester, parking is rarely complicated, though it helps to know about driveways or restrictions, and mention if the work is upstairs, in a flat or high on the outside.
- First, we go round the frames with you and agree the list.
- We remove the old mastic and clean the frame edge and wall.
- Deep gaps get closed-cell backing rod to set the depth.
- The new sealant goes on in white, brown, anthracite grey, black or clear to suit.
- Every joint is tooled smooth and checked before we leave.
Getting ready for the visit

Do you cover Bicester for window mastic?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Bicester is part of that. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Is window mastic in Bicester guaranteed?
All our work, in Bicester and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
How long will my window job take?
A few frames take a few hours, while a whole house takes longer. We confirm the timing with your quote.
What do you need from me for a quote?
Tell us what needs doing and where. We will ask anything else we need to know.
Should I try DIY first?
It depends on the job. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.
Can you do the inside joint as well?
Yes. The outside joint keeps the weather out, and the inside joint stops draughts and finishes the reveal. We can do either or both.
How much does window mastic cost in Bicester?
Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.

What window mastic looks like in Bicester
Compared with the north and west, the South East gets less rain, but outside sealant still needs a dry, clean surface, so outdoor work is planned around the forecast.
In the older streets around Church of St Edburg, the windows may be timber, sash or later replacements, and each needs the right sealant against the wall. Schools such as Brookside Primary School are buildings too, and larger buildings have plenty of frames, and the mastic around each one ages. Rented homes near Bicester North station change hands often, and cracked frame mastic tends to show up as a draught or damp complaint, so it’s worth checking between lets.

Looking after it afterwards
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:
- Clean frames with a soft cloth and soapy water
- Keep timber frames painted
- Avoid harsh chemicals near the mastic
- Walk round the house once a year and look at the joints
Wipe the frames with soapy water when you clean the windows, and avoid solvent cleaners on the sealant.
Draughts get worse, not better. As the old mastic shrinks further, more air gets through, and a cold room gets colder. A new joint closes it up.
