Wet room sealing

Failed and mouldy joints in wet rooms cut out and resealed: floor to wall, glass screens, internal corners and around the drain area.

Where the sealant goes in a wet room

  • Floor-to-wall joints around the shower area
  • Internal vertical corners
  • Where a glass screen meets the wall and floor
  • Around the edges of the drain area, where the design calls for it
  • Around basins, toilets and other fittings in the room

In a wet room these joints sit in water far more than in a normal bathroom, so they need anti-fungal sanitary silicone and careful preparation.

Sealant and the waterproofing underneath

The main waterproofing in a wet room is the tanking under the tiles. The sealant on top protects the joints where the floor and walls move. We reseal the visible joints. If the tanking underneath has failed, that’s a bigger job for a wet room specialist, and resealing on top won’t fix it. If we see signs of that, we’ll tell you. Our guide to sealing a wet room explains more.

How we reseal a wet room

  1. All the old sealant is cut out, including any layers underneath.
  2. The joints are cleaned, treated for mould and left to dry fully, which matters more here than anywhere else.
  3. New anti-fungal sanitary silicone is laid and tooled into each joint.
  4. We tell you how long to keep the room dry before using the shower, usually around 24 hours.

Commercial and accessible wet rooms

We’ve resealed accessible wet rooms in office welfare facilities, working early so they were ready before staff arrived. For hotels, care settings and offices, see our commercial sealant service.

What it costs

We don’t publish set prices. It depends on how much old sealant has to come out, mould, how many joints there are and whether anything else needs doing on the same visit. Call or email with a few details (photos help) and we’ll give you a clear quote before any work starts.

If water is getting past failed sealant, yes. If the tanking under the tiles has failed, that needs a wet room specialist, and we’ll tell you.

How long before I can use the wet room?

Usually around 24 hours. We’ll tell you the cure time for the product we used.

Do you regrout wet rooms too?

Yes. Failed grout can be raked out and replaced; see regrouting.

Is it guaranteed?

Yes. Every job comes with our one-year guarantee.
