Kearsney Remedial Sealant
Removing failed, mouldy or leaking sealant and putting it right for homeowners, landlords and businesses in Kearsney. ARBOMaster approved applicators, fully insured, with a 12-month guarantee.
- Products that weren’t meant for the joint
- Over-sealed joints coming away
- Black mould underneath the bead
DIY versus a professional finish
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
How we handle remedial sealant in Kearsney
Two decades of sealant work means we recognise most failures quickly. We are fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and every remedial job comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are often asked to deal with wide, uneven beads that look worse than the old ones and leaks that keep coming back after resealing, on leaking tray & enclosure joints, mouldy bath & shower sealant and expansion joints.
Smaller places like Kearsney still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Whether it’s a cottage bathroom or a newer en suite, the approach is the same: all the old material out, the joint cleaned and dried, then new sealant or grout.
All our work comes with a 12-month guarantee.

What remedial sealant looks like in Kearsney
Kearsney is within about 3 miles of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
Managing a site like Temple Ewell Church of England Primary School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Letting a property close to Kearsney station? Then failed or mouldy sealant is worth putting right between tenancies, before it turns into a leak. Homes close to Church of St Peter and St Paul include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
Kearsney is about 1 mile north-west of Dover, in Kent. Kearsney gets the same service as everywhere we cover: old sealant removed completely, careful preparation and a one-year guarantee. Kearsney is one of 922 towns and villages in Kent where we work. There’s also a page for Chelmsford, roughly 53 miles from Kearsney.
Postcode districts we cover here for remedial sealant: CT16 and CT17. You’ll find streets such as Park Road, Lower Road and The Avenue, and we cover them all. We also cover the places around Kearsney: Temple Ewell (1 mile north), River (1 mile south-east), Whitfield (1 mile north-east), Wolverton (1 mile west) and Dover (1 mile south-east). Why deal with it now?
Ripping out a bathroom is not usually needed. If the bath, tray and tiles are sound, remedial resealing generally puts it right. Where something else has failed, you’ll hear it from us. In an older home around Kearsney, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the sealant itself.
We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

How to look after the new joints
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Do not add new sealant on top of old
- Check ceilings under showers for marks
- Keep bleach and abrasives off the bead
- Report a tray that rocks or a worktop that lifts
Clean gently: no scraping, scouring pads or harsh chemicals.
Mould under a second layer of sealant keeps growing out of sight. By the time it shows through, the joint is well past saving.
What sealant work cannot fix
In fairness, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:
- Cracks in the fitting rather than the joint
- A bath, tray or worktop that moves until it’s properly fixed
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will say what we think before you book.

What happens on the day
We bring everything the job needs with us, so there’s nothing for you to buy. Once we’ve agreed what’s being done, we protect the area and start. It normally takes a few hours for most joints, depending on how much old sealant has to come out. - First we work out whether the problem is the sealant, movement or a leak.
- Old beads and residue are removed down to clean surfaces.
- We treat any mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
