Remedial sealant in Ashley, done properly
Decorators’ caulk in a shower, bathroom silicone on a window, a rigid filler in a movement joint will not last, however tidy it looks. We take it out and use a sealant made for that joint. If you are dealing with floor or wall movement joints that have failed and gaps opening along the back of the worktop, we can put it right.
In and around Ashley, older properties sit alongside newer ones. Older homes can move a little with the seasons, which is hard on tired sealant and rigid grout.
Our work is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

Ashley: your questions answered
Do you work for landlords with property near New Milton station?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders, and several properties can go on one quote. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with the details for a clear quote.
Will you come out to Ashley?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done and we’ll quote it together.
Does remedial work come with a guarantee?
Yes. Remedial work carries the same 12-month guarantee as all our work.
What information do you need?
Just the basics: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply call 0345 464 0079 or email us.
What happens if the problem is the tray or the plumbing?
We will tell you. A cracked tray, faulty valve or leaking waste needs a different trade, and we won’t reseal for the sake of it.
How long does the work take?
The number of joints and layers decides it. You will have a timescale before any work begins.
Will there be a smell?
That depends on the sealant. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.
Ashley homes and their sealant
Ashley is within about 2 miles of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
If you look after a building such as Ashley Junior School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. Rented homes near New Milton station change hands often, and failed or mouldy sealant is worth putting right between tenancies, before it turns into a leak. In the older streets around St. Peter's Church, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

When it isn’t the sealant
It helps to know what we can’t do too:
- A leaking trap, valve or supply pipe
- A bath, tray or worktop that moves until it’s properly fixed
- Sealant in an older building that needs testing for asbestos first
Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will tell you honestly.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Expansion joints
- Shrunken worktop sealant
- Mouldy bath & shower sealant
- Botched or over-sealed joints
- Failed movement joints
- Leaking tray & enclosure joints
Leave it or put it right?
Spraying mould remover on a sealed-over joint doesn’t reach what’s underneath. The layers have to come out. Homes in smaller places like Ashley can face more weather, and failed outside joints let damp into walls. Inside, a split seal lets water into floors and panels just as it would anywhere.
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part, and we will explain the quote if you ask.

Different surfaces, different methods
Over-sealed & botched joints
Botched joints sometimes have damaged edges from earlier scraping. We work carefully to avoid adding to it, and point out any existing damage.
Worktops & kitchens
Shrunken worktop sealant leaves a gap that lets water into the back edge. It’s cut out, degreased and resealed in a colour to suit.
Quotes for remedial sealant in Ashley
For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:
- The type of sealant required
- Any mould that needs treating
- The number and length of the joints
- The number of rooms or windows
Doing several joints on one visit is usually more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.
Helping us quote
To make quoting easier, let us know:
- How we’d reach the joints
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- The problem you’ve noticed
- If someone has resealed it before
To get a quote, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with the location and a short description of the problem. You will have a clear quote before any work starts.
How to look after the new joints
Aftercare is simple:
- Keep bleach and abrasives off the bead
- Do not wait for a small gap to become a leak
- Never seal over old silicone
- Keep an eye on the ceiling below the bathroom
Don’t let anyone seal over it later. New silicone doesn’t bond to old.
A failing joint rarely gets better on its own. Every shower or downpour sends more water through, into whatever is behind or below. Sorting it early limits the damage.
What we do, step by step
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The job generally takes a few hours for a typical bath or shower, longer where several layers have been applied, including the tidy-up. Parking around Ashley is normally easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. For outside work, side access and the height of the joints help us plan.
- We look at how the sealant has failed and check for movement or a leak path.
- We strip the joint completely, removing any layers below.
- The joint is cleaned, treated for mould and left to dry.
- We use the right backing and sealant for any joint that moves.
- Finally we finish the joint and talk you through what we found.
Before we arrive
- Clear the area around the work
- Mention any tricky access
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks

Can I do it myself?
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
