Regrouting near Tonbridge

Regrouting for homes and businesses in Tonbridge

Most regrouting jobs include resealing too. Grout belongs between tiles, but internal corners and edges flex, so they’re sealed with silicone rather than grout. Renewing both together means nothing is left half-done. Typical jobs include shower grout that has worn away and corners filled with grout instead of silicone, on kitchen splashbacks, wet rooms and bathroom floors.

Tonbridge mixes older houses with estates built more recently, and bathrooms range from decades-old suites to brand-new ones. Either way, the sealant and grout are normally the first things to fail.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

Tonbridge homes and their sealant

Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

If you live in an older home near Church of St Peter and St Paul, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. If you look after a building such as New Beacon School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Tonbridge is about 12 miles south-west of Maidstone, in Kent. Our applicators cover regrouting for homes and businesses in Tonbridge and the surrounding area. Tonbridge is one of 922 places in Kent where we work. Our Crawley page covers work nearby (21 miles or so).

We work across the TN9, TN10 and TN11 postcode area for regrouting. Whether your property is on High Street, Old London Road and London Road or a nearby road, our applicators can take on the job. What affects the quote in Tonbridge

You’ll get a clear quote before we start. It’s based on:

  • Access and height
  • The product the joint needs
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • The number and length of the joints

Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re unsure, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll give you an honest view and a quote.

What to tell us for a quote

Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:

  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • What’s wrong with the joints now

Need a quote? Please ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details. You’ll know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work begins.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

If you manage several properties in or around Tonbridge, several properties can be quoted together. Send us the addresses and the work at each, and pictures by email help.

Surface by surface

Kitchen splashbacks

Grout behind the hob and sink works hard. We regroute and reseal the worktop joint.

Corners and edges

The joint between tiles and a bath, tray or worktop gets silicone. Grout there would crack.

FAQs for Tonbridge

What guarantee comes with regrouting in Tonbridge?

All our work, in Tonbridge and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Do you work for landlords with property near Tonbridge station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before we start.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we tidy up before we go.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Always. Sealing over old sealant is the main reason resealing fails early, and it’s something we never do.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. We are fully insured.

How long should I wait before showering?

It varies with the products and the room. We’ll tell you exactly how long when the job is done.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

We are a Crawley-based firm, with over 20 years’ experience. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

What should I tell you?

Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.

Aftercare tips

So the new joints stay in good condition:

  • Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
  • Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
  • Wipe water off the walls when you’re done

Before we leave, you will know when the shower can be used. Please follow it, and go gently on the grout at first.

If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

How it works

We work through the job in order: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room and we leave things clean and tidy. For a job in Tonbridge, we need access to where the work is and somewhere nearby to park. For outside work, let us know about side access, gates and any upper-floor joints.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. The old grout is removed to an even depth.
  3. The joints are vacuumed clean.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Preparing for the visit

  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Mention any tricky access
  • Tell us if parking is tricky

What we’re called out for in Tonbridge

Harsh cleaners and scrubbing wear grout away. Bleach and acidic limescale removers can attack it over time, leaving the joints sunken and rough.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
  • Cracked or crumbling grout lines
  • Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
  • Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles

For landlords with property near Tonbridge station, stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether all the old sealant comes out first
  • When the joint can take water or movement
  • How much experience the applicator has
  • How the surfaces are prepared before sealing

Our hiring checklist

What happens if it’s left?

Grout pens and paint-on colourants only cover the surface. They won’t fill gaps or keep water out and stains often come back through. Raking out and regrouting replaces the grout itself. Around Tonbridge, failed sealant lets water into hidden places, like the floor under a bath, the back of a panel or the inside of a wall. Left alone, that means rot, damp and a bigger repair.

What it costs depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and access to the work. We give a clear quote before work begins, so you know where you stand.

Why book with us
