Regrouting in Stor, Highland
Raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors for homes and businesses in Stor and across Highland. Fully insured, ARBOMaster approved and guaranteed for a year.
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
- A grout colour that no longer suits the room
- Grout that is cracking and breaking up
About our regrouting in Stor
Most regrouting jobs include resealing too. Grout belongs between tiles, but internal corners and edges flex, so they’re sealed with silicone rather than grout. Doing both at once leaves the whole area sound. Common call-outs are for floor grout that has worn and darkened and kitchen splashback grout stained by grease, on tiled floors, shower walls and kitchen splashbacks.
Being further from a city does not change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

The process
There is not much for you to do on the day. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The work itself takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, including the tidy-up. Outside jobs in Stor need a dry day, because sealant won’t bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed clean.
- We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
- Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.
How to prepare
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Clear the area around the work

Advice
How to look after the new joints
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:
- Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
- Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. Movement will crack the new grout and open a path for water.
Cracked grout does not stay cracked for long. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen, so regrouting early can save a retile.
What regrouting looks like in Stor
Stor is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
Around Stor, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.
Stor (Gaelic: Stoer) is in Highland. Wherever you are in the IV27 postcode area, we cover regrouting for homes and businesses. 253 places in Highland are on our list, from the larger towns to small villages.

Leave it or put it right?
It’s tempting to fill a few cracks yourself, but the patches often do not match and the old grout carries on failing. Doing the full area gives you one colour and sound joints throughout. In an older home around Stor, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster.
We do not show prices on the website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a quick quote.

Surface by surface
Bathroom wall tiles
We can regroute all the walls in a bathroom, depending on the area. It’s a good time to change the grout colour.
Shower walls
Shower walls are the most common area we regrout. Gaps here let water get behind the tiling.
How we quote for regrouting
We don’t publish a price list, because jobs vary so much. What we look at:
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- How many areas need sealing
- Any working-time requirements on site
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
Doing several joints on one visit is normally more efficient than separate visits. We’ll send you a clear quote for the lot.
Helping us quote
To make quoting easier, let us know:
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
There’s no standard price list, because every job is different. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To get started, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

What we are called out for in Stor
When tiles or the wall behind them move, the grout cracks. Loose tiles, bouncy floors and timber walls can all do it, so we check the tiles before work begins.
Common reasons people contact us include:
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Old grout in a dated colour
For jobs in and around Stor, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish.
