How we quote for regrouting
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:
- How many areas need sealing
- The size of the job
- When we can work, for business premises
- Mould in or behind the old joints
What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we ask about the job first and give you a clear quote before any work starts.
Asking for a quote
You don’t need to know the technical terms. It helps if you can tell us:
- The type of property
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- The rough size of the job
- Where the property is
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is. Whenever you’re ready, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Regrouting for homes and businesses in Sandhead
Most regrouting jobs include resealing too. Grout is for the joints between tiles, but internal corners and edges flex, so they need flexible silicone instead. Renewing both together means nothing is left half-done. Typical jobs include discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles and grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned, across tiled floors, shower walls and kitchen splashbacks.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are generally the first signs.
Every job comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Dumfries and Galloway.

All about regrouting
What we are called out for in Sandhead
Most grout is porous, so it soaks up water, soap and dirt. Over time it stains, softens and starts to crumble, especially in a shower that is used every day.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
- Floor grout that won’t come clean
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
In and around Sandhead, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Regrouting around Sandhead
Sandhead is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
For jobs in and around Sandhead, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish.

FAQs for Sandhead
What guarantee comes with regrouting in Sandhead?
Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee, wherever it is. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Is Sandhead in your area for regrouting?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Sandhead is part of that. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.
Is it worth trying it myself?
It depends on the job. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs.
What information do you need?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. If you can, email a few pictures.
Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?
Most of the time, yes. Grout fills tile gaps and sealant handles the moving joints, so both are renewed and include it in your quote.
How do I get a quote for regrouting in Sandhead?
Every job is different, so each one gets its own quote. For a quick quote, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a short description of the job.
Will you leave a mess?
Not at all. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We work in homes, commercial premises and hotels, and we’re fully insured.
Surface by surface
Kitchen splashbacks
Kitchen grout collects grease and food splashes. Once it’s stained, new grout is often the only fix.
Wet rooms
New grout in a wet room keeps the surface sound. It doesn’t repair failed tanking underneath.
Leave it or put it right?
Grouting over old grout rarely lasts. It sits thinly on top and soon flakes away. Removing the old grout to an even depth lets the new grout key in properly. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
Why us?
- 20+ years of sealant experience
- Arbo and Everbuild products
- Old sealant always removed completely
- Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas

Can I do it myself?
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.
How the visit works
Good joint work is mostly preparation, so that is where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. All told, the work takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Around Sandhead, distance and access matter more than parking. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
Before we arrive
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Mention any parking rules near the property

Advice
How to look after the new joints
After the cure time, these simple habits help:
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
- Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
- Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
Wipe the tiles down after a shower stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Ventilate the room well to help it dry out.
Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. Once that happens, regrouting will not fix it so early action pays.
