Need regrouting in Portchester?

How we handle regrouting in Portchester

If you’ve been scrubbing grout that will not come clean, the discolouration has generally soaked into the grout. Replacing it is the lasting answer, and it’s a chance to change the colour too. If you are dealing with dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor and grout stained black or orange that won’t clean, we can help, whatever the surface.

In and around Portchester, older properties sit alongside newer ones. Older homes can move a little with the seasons, which is hard on tired sealant and rigid grout.

A 12-month guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Why deal with it now?

Bleach can lighten stained grout for a while, but mould that has got into grout normally comes back. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. Around Portchester, water from a failed joint in an older home can soak into timber and plaster, and that is a much bigger job than renewing the sealant.

There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please call 0345 464 0079 or email us.

When to call us in Portchester

Grout used in corners or along the bath cracks as the bath or tray moves. They need flexible sealant, and if they’re grouted, a crack soon lets water in.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
  • Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
  • Cracked or crumbling grout lines
  • Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Our hiring checklist

DIY versus a professional finish

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.

What regrouting looks like in Portchester

Portchester is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

If you look after a building such as Castle Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. Letting a property close to Portchester station? Then stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

Common questions in Portchester

Do you cover smaller places like Portchester?

Yes, Portchester is covered. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Portchester station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. We’re approved under the ARBOMaster scheme, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.

What guarantee comes with the work?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee.

How much does regrouting cost in Portchester?

It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. For a quick quote, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and let us know what needs doing and where.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes, always, and completely. New silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so the joint is cleaned back first.

Are you fully insured?

Yes, we are fully insured for domestic and commercial work.

Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?

Most of the time, yes. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so both are renewed and it’s all in the quote.

The process

Every visit runs the same way: we look at the joints together, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, do the work and clear up. It usually takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. In a smaller place like Portchester, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. For outside work, side access and the height of the joints help us plan.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

Getting ready for the visit

  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Clear items away from the joints we are working on
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Getting a quote

Aftercare tips

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
  • Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
  • Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
  • Keep the fan on after showering

Use a gentle cleaner on the grout with a soft brush. Keep harsh bleach and acid limescale removers away from it because they wear grout away.

Grout that’s washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Each shower drives water into the open joints and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.
