- Grout that’s cracking and breaking up
Regrouting for homes and businesses in Newfound
Regrouting suits shower walls, bathroom floors, kitchen splashbacks and wet rooms. Some jobs are a whole room, others just the shower. Whatever the size, the method stays the same. Typical jobs include stained grout that cleaning won’t shift and shower grout that has worn away, across wet rooms, bathroom floors and kitchen splashbacks.
In a village or hamlet like Newfound, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

What happens on the day
Every visit runs the same way: we look at the joints together, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, carry out the job and clear up. Most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. For a village or hamlet like Newfound, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
- Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
- We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
- New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
- Corners and edges are resealed with flexible silicone, not grout.
How to prepare
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height

What affects the quote in Newfound
Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:
- How many areas need sealing
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Which sealant suits the joint
- Working hours on commercial sites
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll go through it with you.
Helping us quote
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:
- Any access issues, like height or stairs
- The problem you’ve noticed
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- Where the property is
To get a quote, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. You’ll have a clear quote before work begins.
Newfound: your questions answered
Is Newfound in your area for regrouting?
Yes, Newfound is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Basingstoke station?
Yes. We work for letting agents and landlords as well as householders. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.
Is resealing included with regrouting?
In most cases, yes. Corners and edges need flexible silicone, and it makes sense to renew both together.
What does regrouting cost?
It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. For a quick quote, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with a short description of the job.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
If tiles are loose, something behind them has usually failed. Grout on its own will not fix that, and we’ll tell you before we start.
Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?
Yes. A lot of our jobs are only the shower, or just the joints that have failed.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. Full insurance covers our work.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes, we can. More than one area can be quoted together.
How the job changes by surface
Kitchen splashbacks
A splashback can be regrouted without touching the worktop. The worktop edge is finished with silicone.
Shower walls
Showers put more water on grout than anywhere else. We rake it out and regrout and renew the silicone at the edges.
How to look after the new joints
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. A few tips:
- Get any tile that moves checked promptly
- Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
Have any tile that moves checked right away. Movement will crack the new grout and open a path for water.
Small problems with grout are quick to put right. Left, the same problem can let water through so it’s worth dealing with as soon as you spot it.
Why act early in Newfound
Regrouting will not help where tiles have come away. We point that out first, so you can decide what to do. On sound tiles, regrouting avoids the upheaval of a retile. Around Newfound, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.

What we seal
- Tiled floors
- Bathroom floors
- Wet rooms
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Shower walls
- Kitchen splashbacks
Can I do it myself?
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
Regrouting around Newfound
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.
If you let a flat or house near Basingstoke station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. Homes close to St John's include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. If you look after a building such as Oakley Infant School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
