How we quote for regrouting

Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • The product the joint needs
  • Whether the work is at height
  • When we can work, for business premises

Leaving a failed joint normally makes the job bigger, not smaller, as water and mould keep getting in. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will give you an honest view and a quote.

What to tell us for a quote

When you call or email, it’s useful to know:

  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • Photos by email, if that is easy
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking

Every job is quoted individually, so the first step is telling us about yours. Simply ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and describe the job and send photos if you have them.

About our regrouting in Netteswell

We work across Netteswell, regrouting bathrooms, showers and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, and we finish by resealing the edges. If you have stained grout that cleaning won’t shift and shower grout that has worn away, we can help, whatever the surface.

Homes around Netteswell range from older cottages to more recent houses. In older homes, walls and floors can move a little more, so the right flexible sealant matters.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, in Netteswell and everywhere else we cover.

When something else is needed

In fairness, some problems need a different trade:

  • A structure that flexes behind the tiles
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • Cracked or broken tiles

If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Shower walls
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Bathroom floors
  • Tiled floors
  • Bathroom wall tiles

What happens on the day

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and explain the cure time. The work normally takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area, depending on the size of the job. A visit to Netteswell is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Advice

Landlords, agents and businesses in Netteswell

From a single let to a portfolio, you get the same standard of work: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

Your questions about regrouting in Netteswell

Will you come out to Netteswell?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Is it worth replacing old sealant in an older home in Netteswell?

Normally, yes, if it’s cracked, shrunk, mouldy or coming away. The key is cutting all the old sealant out, as new sealant will not bond to it.

Do the sealants smell?

Possibly a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.

Will you leave a mess?

We keep the work tidy. Nearby surfaces are protected, and the area is left clean when we finish.

Can you regrout just the shower?

Yes. We will check the other tiled areas as well and let you know if more needs doing.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Just the basics: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

When can I use the shower again?

It varies with the products and the room. We will tell you exactly how long at the end of the visit.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We’re an ARBOMaster approved applicator, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.

Can I do it myself?

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions.

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

Regrouting in Netteswell: local notes

Netteswell is part of Harlow, one of the post-war new towns. Many homes date from the post-war decades, so bathrooms and kitchens may be on their second or third set of sealant. New sealant won’t stick to old, so the old layers have to come out first. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

Letting a property close to Harlow Town station? Then stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right. If you live in an older home near St Andrew's Methodist Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. If you look after a building such as Freshwaters Primary Academy, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Netteswell is about 1 mile west of Harlow, in Essex. We carry out regrouting for homes and businesses in Netteswell and nearby. Netteswell is one of 644 towns and villages in Essex we cover for regrouting. For nearby work, see our Chelmsford page, about 16 miles away.

Keeping the joints in good condition

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Rinse the tiles after showering
  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
  • Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then

Have any tile that moves checked straight away. Movement will crack the new grout and open a path for water.

Grout that stays dark after cleaning is starting to fail. At this point it’s a simple regrout, before the joints open up.

What happens if it’s left?

Cleaning products may brighten grout for a time, but mould that has got into grout generally comes back. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. In an older home around Netteswell, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, and that is a much bigger job than renewing the sealant.

Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You will know the price before we begin.
