About our regrouting in Nethermill
Our applicators rake out the old grout to an even depth, without damaging the edges of the tiles. After vacuuming, new grout goes in and the tiles are wiped clean, with silicone renewed in the corners. If you have floor grout that won’t come clean and grout that’s cracking and breaking up, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
Being further from a city does not change the work: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Nethermill: your questions answered
Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Nethermill?
All our work, in Nethermill and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Can you do regrouting in Nethermill?
Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Nethermill is part of that. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.
Should corners be grouted or sealed?
Corners get silicone, not grout. They move slightly, and grout there cracks.
Do you reseal at the same time?
Most of the time, yes. Grout fills tile gaps and sealant handles the moving joints, so we renew both and it’s all in the quote.
Do I have to be there?
It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?
It can. With the old grout removed, the new colour fills the whole joint rather than sitting on top.
Is there any odour?
That depends on the sealant. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all, and any smell fades as they cure.
DIY versus a professional finish
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
Do you need regrouting in Nethermill?
Some grout fails because it was mixed or laid badly. Grout that was too wet, not packed in or cleaned off too hard tends to wash out early.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
- Grout that is cracking and breaking up
- Splashback grout that has darkened
In and around Nethermill, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Different surfaces, different methods
Bathroom wall tiles
Whole bathroom walls can be regrouted in one visit or more, depending on size. It’s a good time to change the grout colour.
Wet rooms
Both the grout and the silicone in a wet room matter. We replace the grout and reseal the edges.
Leave it or put it right?
New grout smeared over the old does not bond well. It sits thinly on top and soon flakes away. Removing the old grout to an even depth lets the new grout key in properly. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.
A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Regrouting in Nethermill: local notes
Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.
For jobs in and around Nethermill, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish.

What we do, step by step
A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, protect the area around them, do the work and clear up. It generally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. For a place like Nethermill, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
