What affects the cost of regrouting
Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- Working hours on commercial sites
- Which sealant suits the joint
- How much there is to do
- How many areas need sealing
Leaving a failed joint generally makes the job bigger, not smaller. If you are unsure, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you an honest view and a quote.
What we need to know
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- The rough size of the job
- Whether it has been sealed before

Regrouting in High Bonnybridge, done properly
Regrouting suits shower walls, bathroom floors, kitchen splashbacks and wet rooms. It can be a full room, or just the area that has failed. Either way, tiled areas in High Bonnybridge are handled the same careful way. Common call-outs are for shower grout that has worn away and grout that’s cracking and breaking up, across bathroom floors, tiled floors and kitchen splashbacks.
A bathroom in a place like High Bonnybridge gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Your questions about regrouting in High Bonnybridge
Do you cover High Bonnybridge for regrouting?
Yes, High Bonnybridge is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.
Will you come out to High Bonnybridge?
Yes. High Bonnybridge is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Can landlords and businesses book you?
Yes, often. Several properties can go on one quote, and between tenancies is a good time for the work.
Is there any odour?
Possibly a little. It fades as the sealant cures.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status, and we are fully insured.
Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?
Yes, that is common. The shower generally fails first, so it’s often the only area that needs doing.
Where do you work from?
We are a Crawley-based firm. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.
Can you seal over the old sealant?
No. New silicone won’t bond to old silicone, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. We remove it all first.
DIY versus a professional finish
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
What the job involves on each surface
Shower walls
Showers put more water on grout than anywhere else. We rake it out and regrout, and reseal the corners.
Wet rooms
Regrouting a wet room helps keep water on the surface of the tiles. It does not repair failed tanking underneath.
Bathrooms and kitchens in High Bonnybridge
Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.
In the older streets around St Helen's Parish Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. If you look after a building such as Denny High School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. If you let a flat or house near Camelon station, stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

Looking after it afterwards
Looking after new joints is easy:
- Rinse the tiles after showering
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
- Use gentle cleaners on grout
- Have loose tiles looked at early
Keep an eye on the silicone in the corners. Corners flex, so it’s normally the first thing to need attention, long before the grout does.
Fixing grout early is a small job. Left, the same problem can let water through, so get it looked at when you notice it.
When something else is needed
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Leave it or put it right?
Cleaning products may brighten grout for a time, but mould that has got into grout generally comes back. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.

What we do, step by step
We keep the work tidy and contained to the area we’re working on. The job normally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. Around High Bonnybridge, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.
- First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
- Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
- Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
- New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
- We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear items away from the joints we are working on
- Mention any parking rules near the property
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
