Need regrouting in Heart's Delight?

For landlords and businesses

In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we’ll give you a quote.

How we handle regrouting in Heart's Delight

If you’ve been scrubbing grout that won’t come clean, the stain is often in the grout itself. Replacing it is the lasting answer and you can pick a different colour while you are at it. Common call-outs are for stained grout that cleaning won’t shift and dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor, across wet rooms, tiled floors and bathroom floors.

Homes around Heart's Delight are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats. The work is the same as anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we will sort it.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

When it is not the sealant

In fairness, some problems need a different trade:

  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Tiles that are chipped or split
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind

If you are not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we seal

FAQs for Heart's Delight

Do you work in hotels near Heart's Delight?

Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.

Do you work for landlords with property near Sittingbourne station?

Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. Just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us about the property, and we will send you a clear quote.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. More than one area can go on one quote.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

What if some of my tiles are loose?

If tiles are loose, something behind them has usually failed. Regrouting alone is not the answer and we will say so before going ahead.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee, and we are fully insured.

Is there any odour?

There can be a smell while the sealant cures, which fades as it sets. Ventilation helps.

What do you put in the joint?

We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we will explain our choice.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Heart's Delight

Heart's Delight has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Peter and St Paul, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Managing a site like Minterne Community Junior School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Rented homes near Sittingbourne station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

What we do, step by step

A visit follows a simple pattern: we look at the joints together, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, do the work and tidy away. It normally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. In a small place like Heart's Delight, access is usually the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any tricky access
  • Tell us about any water getting in
  • Clear items away from the joints we’re working on

Leave it or put it right?

With regrouting, your tiles stay where they are. Retiling is a much bigger job: stripping, making good, new tiles and new grout, and often a few days without a shower. If the tiles are sound, regrouting is the simpler fix. Older cottages and farmhouses around Heart's Delight can have timber floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

Why us?

  • Quality sealants from Arbo and Everbuild
  • Tidy, careful work
  • Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over
  • 20+ years of sealant experience

How we quote for regrouting

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:

  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • Whether the work is at height

Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits. We’ll send you a clear quote for the lot.

What we need to know

Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:

  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • Whether it has been sealed before

Want a quote for regrouting? Please ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us about the job. You’ll know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work begins.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Do not ignore a tile that feels loose
  • Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
  • Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use

Clean the grout with a mild bathroom cleaner with a soft brush. Keep harsh bleach and acid limescale removers away from it, as they can break grout down.

Small problems with grout are quick to put right. Left, the same problem can let water through, so get it looked at when you notice it.
