Regrouting for Haster homes and businesses

Should I try it myself first?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.

Regrouting for homes and businesses in Haster

A bathroom with good tiles can still look worn if the grout has gone. Regrouting replaces the grout and keeps the tiles you have, so there’s no stripping out and no new tiles to choose. We work on shower walls, bathroom floors and bathroom wall tiles, and the jobs we see most are kitchen splashback grout stained by grease and grout that’s cracking and breaking up.

For a place like Haster, the job is the same as anywhere: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Haster

Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

What the job involves on each surface

Bathroom wall tiles

Whole bathroom walls can be regrouted in one visit or more, depending on the area. You can change the colour at the same time.

Corners and edges

We reseal edges at the same time as regrouting, so everything is renewed at once.

Honest limits

In fairness, some problems need a different trade:

  • Cracked or broken tiles
  • Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall

If you are not sure, just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we seal

  • Wet rooms
  • Tiled floors
  • Shower walls
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Bathroom floors

What happens if it’s left?

Grout pens and paint-on colourants only cover the surface. They will not fill gaps or keep water out and stains often come back through. A proper regrout puts new grout in the joint. In a place like Haster, small leaks are easy to put off, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.

What you pay reflects the work, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask a few questions first and agree the price before starting.

What affects the quote in Haster

There’s no set price list. The quote depends on:

  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Access and height
  • The product the joint needs
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Helping us quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • The type of property

We quote each job on its own. Simply email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and describe the job.

Haster homes and their sealant

Haster is within about 3 miles of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

Rented homes near Wick station change hands often, and stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Wick High School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Haster is about 17 miles south-east of Thurso, in Highland. We carry out regrouting for homes and businesses in Haster. Haster is one of 253 towns and villages in Highland we cover for regrouting.

Haster questions

Can you do regrouting in Haster?

Yes, Haster is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.

Do you cover smaller places like Haster?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Can you change the grout colour?

Yes, plenty of people choose to. Darker grout can hide marks, while lighter grout brightens a room.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator and we are fully insured too.

Do I have to be there?

Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?

Internal corners and edges are sealed with flexible silicone. Grout in a moving joint soon cracks.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We’re fully insured.

How it works

We keep the work tidy and contained to the area we are working on. The job usually takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Around Haster, distance and access matter more than parking. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.

Before we arrive

  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before
