How we handle regrouting in Hampton

Regrouting is normally paired with resealing. Grout is for the joints between tiles, but internal corners and edges flex, so they’re sealed with silicone rather than grout. Doing both at once leaves the whole area sound. If you have floor grout that has worn and darkened and greasy, stained grout behind the hob, we can help, on tiled floors, bathroom floors and shower walls alike.

London homes include a lot of flats, conversions and mansion blocks, so a bathroom is often directly above a neighbour’s ceiling. That makes worn sealant and cracked grout in Hampton more than a cosmetic job.

All our work comes with a 12-month guarantee.

Why it’s worth doing now in Hampton

Regrouting will not help where tiles have come away. We point that out first, so you can decide what to do. Where the tiles are sound, regrouting is far less disruptive than retiling. Converted houses in London often have a bathroom above someone else’s living room, and a slow leak from a failed seal can end up in the flat below. Putting it right early is much less trouble.

What it costs depends on how much there is to do, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts.

Why book with us

  • Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet
  • Every job guaranteed for a year

Signs you need regrouting in Hampton

Most grout is porous, so water, soap and grime soak into it. Over time it stains, softens and starts to crumble and showers that get daily use suffer most.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
  • Gaps where the shower grout has gone
  • Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
  • A grout colour that no longer suits the room

Rented homes near Hampton station change hands often, and clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • Whether all the old sealant comes out first
  • What insurance they hold
  • Whether VAT is included

Quotes for regrouting in Hampton

You’ll get a clear quote before work begins. It takes into account:

  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Access and height
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with

A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re unsure, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

Asking for a quote

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:

  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • Whether it has been sealed before

Asking for a quote is easy: let us know what needs doing and where, and roughly how big it is. A few photos by email make the job easier to understand, and we will come back to you with a quote.

How the visit works

The work is kept neat and contained to the area we are working on, so you can carry on as normal. Expect the work to take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, and we explain the cure time before we leave. Parking in much of London is by permit or pay-and-display, so it helps to know what’s near you in Hampton. A visitor permit or a nearby bay makes the visit run more smoothly.

  1. We start by checking the tiles for any that are loose or hollow.
  2. The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
  3. The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
  4. We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
  5. Corners and edges are resealed with flexible silicone, not grout.

Getting ready for the visit

FAQs for Hampton

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Hampton station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details for a clear quote.

Can parking be tricky for a visit in Hampton?

London parking needs a little planning, so let us know about permits, bays or a driveway when you book. That way the visit can be planned around it.

What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?

We seal corners with silicone. They flex and grout cannot take that movement.

Are you insured?

Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured, and we’ve been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.

Is it messy?

No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we tidy up before we go.

Is it OK to seal over old sealant?

No. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, and it traps any mould or water underneath. It all has to come out first.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

We are based in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.

What do you put in the joint?

It depends on the joint: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.

When it isn’t the sealant

Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we’ll tell you before we start. It will not solve:

  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A floor or wall that keeps moving

If in doubt, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will say what we think before booking.

  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Bathroom floors
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Shower walls
  • Wet rooms

Aftercare tips

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. A few tips:

  • Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
  • Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
  • Check the corner silicone every few months
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use

Have any tile that moves checked right away. A loose tile cracks the grout around it and open a path for water.

Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets behind the tiles, and they can begin to come away and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.
