Regrouting in Grove

Changing the grout colour is a simple way to update tiles. Light grout can go darker to hide marks or back again. Tell us what you have in mind when you ask for a quote. If you’re dealing with splashback grout that has darkened and corners filled with grout instead of silicone, we can put it right, on bathroom floors, wet rooms and bathroom wall tiles alike.

Somewhere as small as Grove, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Grove

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

Managing a site like Preston Primary School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Rented homes near Sturry station change hands often, and a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

Grove is about 5 miles south-east of Herne Bay, in Kent. Every kind of property in Grove can book us for regrouting, old or new, large or small. The work is guaranteed for a year. We cover 922 towns and villages across Kent. Our Chelmsford page covers work nearby.

What we’re called out for in Grove

Strong cleaning products and hard scrubbing slowly erode grout. Bleach and acidic limescale removers can attack it with repeated use, until the joints are rough and low.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Crumbling grout between the tiles
  • Splashback grout that has darkened
  • Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
  • Grout in a colour the owner wants to change

Homes close to Church of St Mildred include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

If you manage several properties in or around Grove, jobs at different addresses can go on one quote. Just tell us the addresses and what each one needs, and photos by email help.

Letting agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we will give you a quote.

Surface by surface

Wet rooms

Wet rooms have water across the floor, so good grout is important. We check the tiles first.

Kitchen splashbacks

We can regroute a splashback with the kitchen left in place. The worktop edge is finished with silicone.

When it isn’t the sealant

Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:

  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • A structure that flexes behind the tiles

If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we seal

  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Bathroom floors
  • Tiled floors
  • Shower walls

Aftercare tips

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly
  • Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
  • Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal

A squeegee or cloth over the tiles after use stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Run the extractor fan or open a window so the grout dries between uses.

Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen and early regrouting can avoid a much bigger job.

Can I do it myself?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Questions from Grove

Is Grove within the area you cover?

Yes. Grove is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Do you cover Grove for regrouting?

Yes, Grove is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

How long will you be here?

Typically it takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Larger jobs naturally take longer.

Is it messy?

Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us, and we are fully insured.

Will regrouting fix loose tiles?

Loose tiles need refixing before regrouting. We will point them out at the start.

Can you seal over the old sealant?

No, it will not last. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new bead soon lifts. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.

Can tenants book the work?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

The process

You do not need to clear the whole room or building before we come, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the work takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room in most cases. Somewhere like Grove needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
  2. The old grout is removed to an even depth.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.

Before we arrive

  • Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
  • Mention any tricky access
  • Tell us if parking is tricky
