Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance.

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

Regrouting in Glithno

A grout colour change can freshen a room without retiling. Light grout can go darker to hide marks, or the other way round. Tell us what you have in mind when you ask for a quote. We work on wet rooms, kitchen splashbacks and bathroom wall tiles, and the jobs we see most are splashback grout that has darkened and corners filled with grout instead of silicone.

Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Glithno questions

Do you work for landlords with property near Stonehaven station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Can you do regrouting in Glithno?

Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Glithno is part of that. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.

Do I have to be there?

That depends on where the joints are. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

What information do you need?

A short description and the location. We’ll ask anything else we need to know.

Where do you work from?

We are a Crawley-based firm, with over 20 years’ experience. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Are you insured?

Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured.

Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?

Loose tiles need refixing before regrouting. We will point them out before any grout comes out.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, then guaranteed for a year.

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Honest limits

We’d rather tell you now than do work that won’t last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:

  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
  • Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
  • Water coming from plumbing rather than grout

Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we seal

  • Tiled floors
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower walls
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Bathroom floors

How the job changes by surface

Shower walls

Shower walls are the most common area we regrout. Cracked or missing grout here lets water behind the tiles.

Bathroom wall tiles

Whole bathroom walls can be regrouted in one visit or more, depending on the area. You can change the colour at the same time.

What affects the quote in Glithno

Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:

  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Any working-time requirements on site

Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part.

Helping us quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email

For a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. We will give you a clear quote before any work starts.

What we’re called out for in Glithno

Some grout fails because it was mixed or laid badly. If it was mixed too wet or not pressed in firmly tends to wash out early.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Grout washed out of a shower
  • Grout that’s cracking and breaking up
  • Stained grout that cleaning won’t shift
  • Splashback grout that has darkened

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Mackie Academy, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Questions to ask before you book

  • How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
  • Who does the work, and how experienced they are

Our hiring checklist

The process

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The job generally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room, including the tidy-up. Around Glithno, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
  2. Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
  3. We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
  4. Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
  5. We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules

Regrouting in Glithno: local notes

Glithno is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
