Regrouting near Foxcotte

What happens on the day

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and explain the cure time. The work normally takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area, depending on how much there is to do. Somewhere as small as Foxcotte, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
  2. The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
  3. Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
  4. We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
  5. We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts

Advice

Regrouting in Foxcotte

Grout is the filler between your tiles, and sealant is what goes along the bath, tray or worktop. When grout cracks or washes out, water has a way in behind the tiling. Our job is to rake it out and put new grout in, then reseal the corners and edges. Typical jobs include kitchen splashback grout stained by grease and a grout colour that no longer suits the room, on kitchen splashbacks, bathroom wall tiles and tiled floors.

For a small place like Foxcotte, regrouting is planned like any other job: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, whatever its size.

Common questions in Foxcotte

Will you come out to Foxcotte?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Is Foxcotte in your area for regrouting?

Yes, Foxcotte is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear price.

Will regrouting fix loose tiles?

Loose tiles need refixing before regrouting. We’ll point them out before any grout comes out.

What should I tell you?

The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. Photos by email help too.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Always. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.

Do you reseal at the same time?

Most of the time, yes. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so we renew both and it’s all in the quote.

What do you put in the joint?

It depends on the joint: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.

Do you guarantee regrouting?

Our one-year guarantee applies to all our work. We are also fully insured.

Regrouting in Foxcotte: local notes

Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

If you let a flat or house near Andover station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again. For an older house near a landmark such as St Thomas, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too in Foxcotte and across Hampshire. We can quote a run of properties together.

In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.

When it is not the sealant

Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:

  • Damaged tiles that need replacing
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
  • A leaking wet room membrane

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we seal

  • Tiled floors
  • Bathroom floors
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower walls
  • Kitchen splashbacks

What the job involves on each surface

Kitchen splashbacks

We can regroute a splashback with the kitchen left in place. The joint along the worktop is resealed with silicone.

Bathroom floors

Floor grout takes foot traffic as well as water. It gets worn and dirty.

Common problems we fix in Foxcotte

Grout that was put in corners cracks because those joints flex. Those joints should be silicone, and when they aren’t, water gets in.

The problems people generally mention when they call are:

  • Grout that makes sound tiles look old
  • Grout that is cracking and breaking up
  • Shower grout that has worn away
  • Corners filled with grout instead of silicone

If you look after a building such as Harrow Way Community School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Is VAT in the price?
  • What the cure time is
  • How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint

10 questions to ask before you book

How we quote for regrouting

We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:

  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • The product the joint needs

The cost reflects the work involved, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask a few questions first and agree the price before starting.

What we need to know

Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:

  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Where the property is
  • If someone has resealed it before

For a quote, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. We’ll give you a clear price before any work starts.

How to look after the new joints

How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Do not ignore a tile that feels loose
  • Rinse the tiles after showering
  • Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
  • Check the corner silicone every few months

Before we leave, you’ll know when the shower can be used. Please follow it, and go gently on the grout at first.

Stains that won’t clean are a sign the grout is breaking down. Regrouting at this stage is straightforward while the tiles are still sound.
