Regrouting in Findhorn

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we’ll quote.

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

How we handle regrouting in Findhorn

Across Findhorn, we regrout tiled showers, bathrooms and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, and we finish by resealing the edges. Common call-outs are for grout in corners that has cracked and floor grout that has worn and darkened, across bathroom wall tiles, tiled floors and shower walls.

Being further from a city doesn’t change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.

Every job comes with our one-year guarantee.

FAQs for Findhorn

Is Findhorn in your area for regrouting?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Findhorn is part of that. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear price.

Will you come out to Findhorn?

Yes. Findhorn is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Where are you based?

Our base is Crawley. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?

Loose or hollow tiles are a sign of a problem behind them. Regrouting alone isn’t the answer, and we will tell you before any work starts.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Just list everything you need.

How long does the job take?

It depends on the size of the job, but most jobs take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. We will tell you when we quote.

How do I get a quote for regrouting in Findhorn?

It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. To get one, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing and where.

Do you reseal at the same time?

Yes, in most cases. Fresh grout next to old, mouldy silicone would look odd and could still leak.

What affects the cost of regrouting

We don’t publish a price list, because jobs vary so much. What we look at:

  • The type of sealant required
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Whether the work is at height
  • Any mould that needs treating

What you pay reflects the work, not a rough estimate. That is why we ask about the job first.

What we need to know

When you contact us, these details help:

  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • Photos by email, if that is easy
  • The type of property
  • Whether it has been sealed before

For a quote, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. You’ll have a clear quote before we start.

Why it’s worth doing now in Findhorn

Cracked grout lets water behind the tiles. Left alone, that water can loosen tiles or damage the wall, which turns a regrout into a retile. Dealing with it now keeps it small. Around Findhorn, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.

Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.

Why us?

  • Arbo and Everbuild products
  • Over 20 years’ experience
  • We’re fully insured
  • Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet

Common problems we fix in Findhorn

Grout is porous, so it soaks up water, soap and dirt. Over time it stains, softens and starts to crumble, especially in a shower that’s used every day.

Look out for these signs:

  • Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
  • Grout that makes sound tiles look old
  • Shower grout that has worn away
  • Grout that’s cracking and breaking up

Letting a property close to Forres station? Then a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

How it works

Once we’re on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. Most jobs then take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. For a place like Findhorn, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.

  1. We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
  2. We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
  3. We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
  4. New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
  5. We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts

Advice

Honest limits

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what new sealant won’t do:

  • Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Movement in a stud wall or floor
  • Tiles that are chipped or split

If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think before booking.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower walls
  • Tiled floors
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Bathroom floors

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Keep the fan on after showering
  • Rinse the tiles after showering
  • Skip wire brushes and scourers
  • Wipe or squeegee the shower walls

Wipe the tiles down after a shower stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Ventilate the room well so the grout dries between uses.

Fixing grout early is a small job. Left for a few years, they can become a leak, so get it looked at when you notice it.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Findhorn

Findhorn is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out.

Homes close to Findhorn Parish Church and Church Hall include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
