Fettercairn Regrouting
Raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors in Fettercairn, with a 12-month guarantee on every job. Ask us for a quote.
- A grout colour that no longer suits the room
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines
- Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
DIY versus a professional finish
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly.
About our regrouting in Fettercairn
Most regrouting jobs include resealing too. Grout is for the joints between tiles, but corners and edges move, so they’re sealed with silicone rather than grout. Renewing both together means nothing is left half-done. We work on bathroom wall tiles, tiled floors and bathroom floors, and the jobs we see most are dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor and grout in a colour the owner wants to change.
A bathroom in a place like Fettercairn gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.
Every job is covered by our one-year guarantee.

How the job changes by surface
Corners and edges
We reseal edges at the same time as regrouting, so the whole area is finished together.
Bathroom wall tiles
Grout by the basin and bath tends to mark first. We can do part of a wall or all of it.

What else we do in Fettercairn
Fettercairn homes and their sealant
In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.
For an older house near a landmark such as Fettercairn Parish Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

What we are called out for in Fettercairn
A poor original job is a common cause. If it was mixed too wet or not pressed in firmly tends to wash out early.
Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Floor grout that will not come clean
- Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
Rented homes near Laurencekirk station change hands often, and stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.
What your quote should include
- Is VAT in the price?
- How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
- Who does the work, and how experienced they are
- The length of the guarantee
Your questions about regrouting in Fettercairn
Is Fettercairn in your area for regrouting?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Fettercairn is part of that. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing.
Will you come out to Fettercairn?
Yes. Fettercairn is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across all of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Do I have to be there?
For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you don’t need to watch us work.
Will it make a mess?
Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.
Do you work for letting agents?
Yes. We work in homes, commercial premises and hotels, and we’re fully insured.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we’re part of it.
What should I tell you?
Only a few details: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes. Just list everything you need and you will get one quote.
Keeping the joints in good condition
Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Use gentle cleaners on grout
- Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
- Don’t ignore a tile that feels loose
Give the new grout the time we tell you before using the shower, so it can harden properly. After that, rinse the tiles after showering and keep the room ventilated.
Grout that stays dark after cleaning is starting to fail. At this point it’s a simple regrout, before the joints open up.
How the visit works
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you. The work normally takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area, depending on how much there is to do. Somewhere like Fettercairn may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
- Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
