Regrouting for homes and businesses in East Mains

We regroute showers, bathroom walls and floors, splashbacks and wet rooms. It can be a full room, or just the area that has failed. Either way, tiled areas in East Mains are handled the same careful way. If you’re dealing with greasy, stained grout behind the hob and shower grout that has worn away, we can put it right, on shower walls, bathroom floors and kitchen splashbacks alike.

A bathroom in a place like East Mains gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.

All our work comes with our 12-month guarantee.

What we do, step by step

We bring everything the job needs with us, so there’s nothing for you to buy. Once we have agreed what’s being done, we protect the area and start. It normally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. For a place like East Mains, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. We remove the old grout carefully.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can

What regrouting looks like in East Mains

In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out.

Schools such as St Andrew's and St Bride's High School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

What the job involves on each surface

Bathroom floors

Regrouting a floor brightens the whole room. Floor-to-wall and bath joints are sealed, not grouted.

Corners and edges

We reseal edges at the same time as regrouting, so the whole area is finished together.

What we are called out for in East Mains

Strong cleaning products and hard scrubbing slowly erode grout. Some bleaches and acid descalers break grout down over time, until the joints are rough and low.

The problems people generally mention when they call include:

  • Grout in corners that has cracked
  • Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
  • Grout washed out of a shower
  • Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease

For landlords with property near East Kilbride station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether you can choose the colour
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it

Our hiring checklist

East Mains: your questions answered

Can you do regrouting in East Mains?

Yes, East Mains is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.

Will you come out to East Mains?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

How soon can the shower be used after regrouting?

Before we leave, we’ll tell you how long to wait. The grout and sealant both need to cure before the shower is used.

Can new sealant go over the old?

No, it will not last. It may look fine at first, but the new layer lifts away from the old one. The old sealant has to come out completely.

What does regrouting cost?

There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. You will get a clear quote before we start.

Is regrouting a chance to pick a new grout colour?

Yes. Because the old grout is raked out, the new colour goes all the way into the joint, not just the surface.

What guarantee comes with the work?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee.

Is there any odour?

Possibly a little. It fades as the sealant cures.

Quotes for regrouting in East Mains

For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:

  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved

Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.

What to tell us for a quote

You do not need to know the technical terms. It helps if you can tell us:

  • The rough size of the job
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • Whether it’s a home or a business

If you are in East Mains and need regrouting, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk. Tell us what the problem is and where, and you will get a clear quote before we start.

Why act early in East Mains

Cleaning products may brighten grout for a time, but mould that has got into grout usually comes back. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Why book with us

  • More than 20 years in sealant work

  • Fully insured
  • A 12-month guarantee on all work

Honest limits

In fairness, some problems need a different trade:

  • Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
  • A floor or wall that keeps moving
  • Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)

If you are not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer.

What we seal

  • Shower walls
  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom floors
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Tiled floors

Should I try it myself first?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
