Your questions about regrouting in Clachan Seil
Is regrouting in Clachan Seil guaranteed?
All our work, in Clachan Seil and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Can you do regrouting in Clachan Seil?
Yes, Clachan Seil is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear price.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is generally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
How long should I wait before showering?
We give you a time before we leave. The wait depends on the products and conditions so please stick to it.
Do you regrout part of a bathroom, like the shower?
We can. We’ll check the other tiled areas as well and tell you if anything else needs attention.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes, every time. New silicone does not stick to old silicone, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.
Is it OK to seal over old sealant?
No, because it fails. The old sealant always comes out first, so the new joint bonds to clean surfaces.
Do I have to be there?
For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Regrouting in Clachan Seil
Our applicators rake out the old grout to an even depth, without damaging the edges of the tiles. The joints are then vacuumed, regrouted and cleaned off, with silicone renewed in the corners. We work on bathroom wall tiles, kitchen splashbacks and tiled floors, and people most often call us about grout that makes sound tiles look old and shower grout that has worn away.
Being further from a city doesn’t change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, whatever its size.

What we do, step by step
A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, protect the area around them, carry out the job and clear up. Most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. In smaller Scottish places, parking is normally less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints.
- First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
- We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
- The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
- We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
- Corners and edges are resealed with flexible silicone, not grout.
Before we arrive
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Keep children and pets away from the work area

Landlord and commercial work in Clachan Seil

We also work for property managers and facilities teams in Clachan Seil and across Argyll and Bute. Several sites can go on one quote.
Why deal with it now?
With regrouting, your tiles stay where they are. Retiling means stripping the walls, making good and choosing new tiles, and often a few days without a shower. When the tiles are fine, it’s the sensible first step. In an older home around Clachan Seil, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Clachan Seil
Clachan Seil is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
For jobs in and around Clachan Seil, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish. Around Clachan Seil, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Aftercare tips
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Rinse the tiles after showering
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
- Keep the fan on after showering
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
Wipe the tiles down after a shower stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Ventilate the room well so the grout dries between uses.
Cracked grout doesn’t stay cracked for long. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen, so regrouting early can save a retile.

Quotes for regrouting in Clachan Seil
Jobs vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- The product the joint needs
- Any mould that needs treating
- When we can work, for business premises
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.
Asking for a quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- How we’d reach the joints
- Where the property is
- The rough size of the job
It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we will explain how we’d tackle it. Whenever you’re ready, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Can I do it myself?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
