Regrouting in Blackmoor

If you’ve been scrubbing grout that won’t come clean, the stain is often in the grout itself. Replacing it is the lasting answer and you can pick a different colour while you are at it. If you have dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor and kitchen splashback grout stained by grease, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

Being in a small place like Blackmoor makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

Leave it or put it right?

Grouting over old grout rarely lasts. It sits thinly on top and soon flakes away. Raking out to a consistent depth gives the new grout something to hold. Around Blackmoor, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Regrouting in Blackmoor: local notes

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

In the older streets around St Matthew's Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Managing a site like St Matthew's Church of England Aided Primary School? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Blackmoor

Landlords and letting agents in Blackmoor can book us as well as homeowners. Resealing between tenancies keeps a property looking cared for before the next move-in.

Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. We can quote for more than one property at once.

Signs you need regrouting in Blackmoor

Soap scum and limescale build up on grout and stick to it. In time the grout under it darkens and breaks down, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Grout that is cracking and breaking up
  • Good tiles let down by tired grout
  • Old grout in a dated colour
  • Grout washed out of a shower

For landlords with property near Liss station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

Our hiring checklist

When it isn’t the sealant

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:

  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • Movement in a stud wall or floor
  • Water coming from plumbing rather than grout

If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we seal

  • Bathroom floors
  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Tiled floors
  • Shower walls
  • Kitchen splashbacks

The process

Every visit runs the same way: we check the joints, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, carry out the job and tidy away. Most jobs take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Somewhere as small as Blackmoor, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
  2. Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
  3. We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
  4. Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
  5. The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the work area
  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can

Advice

Different surfaces, different methods

Bathroom floors

Regrouting a floor brightens the whole room. Floor-to-wall and bath joints are sealed, not grouted.

Bathroom wall tiles

We can regroute all the walls in a bathroom, depending on size. You can change the colour at the same time.

Aftercare tips

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly
  • Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
  • Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
  • Do not use strong acidic cleaners on grout

A squeegee or cloth over the tiles after use stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Run the extractor fan or open a window so the grout dries between uses.

Stains that will not clean are a sign the grout is breaking down. At this point it’s a simple regrout while the tiles are still sound.

Questions from Blackmoor

Do you cover Blackmoor for regrouting?

Yes, Blackmoor is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. You can call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.

Will you come out to Blackmoor?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Can new sealant go over the old?

No, it will not last. It may look fine at first, but the new bead soon lifts. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.

What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?

We use silicone in corners and along edges. Grout in a moving joint soon cracks.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, we do. Domestic, commercial and hotel work are all part of what we do, and we’re fully insured.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

We work from Crawley. We cover Blackmoor and the rest of Hampshire, along with the rest of our area.

Our one-year guarantee covers every job, including regrouting.
