Questions from Weavers Down
I let a flat near Liphook station. Can you help?
Yes. We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the details for a clear quote.
Do you work in hotels near Weavers Down?
Yes, hotels and guest houses are among the places we work. Rooms can be done a few at a time, so the building stays open.
Could my grout be a different colour after regrouting?
It can. With the old grout removed, the new colour fills the whole joint, not just the surface.
Can you regrout just the shower?
Yes. A lot of our jobs are only the shower, or the area where the grout has gone.
Will it make a mess?
No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.
How do I get a quote for regrouting in Weavers Down?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. You will get a clear quote before any work starts.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No, and we never do. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new bead soon lifts. The old sealant has to come out completely.
Will regrouting fix loose tiles?
Loose tiles need refixing before regrouting. We will point them out before any grout comes out.
How we handle regrouting in Weavers Down
Across Weavers Down, we regrout tiled showers, bathrooms and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, finished with new silicone at the edges. We are often asked to deal with grout in a colour the owner wants to change and cracked or crumbling grout lines, across bathroom floors, shower walls and wet rooms.
For a small place like Weavers Down, regrouting is planned like any other job: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.
All our work comes with our 12-month guarantee.

Regrouting around Weavers Down
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in. Weavers Down has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room.
If you look after a building such as Liphook Church of England Controlled Junior School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

What sealant work can’t fix
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
- A structure that flexes behind the tiles
- Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will tell you honestly.
What we seal

The process
Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we do not rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Somewhere like Weavers Down needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
- We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules

Advice
DIY sealant or a professional job?
Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
How to look after the new joints
A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:
- Don’t use strong acidic cleaners on grout
- Keep the fan on after showering
- Rinse the tiles after showering
- Have loose tiles looked at early
Use a gentle cleaner on the grout with a soft brush. Keep harsh bleach and acid limescale removers away from it because they wear grout away.
Leaving failed grout can mean tiles come loose. Once that happens, regrouting won’t fix it so early action pays.
Different surfaces, different methods
Bathroom floors
Grout on a floor is walked on as well as wetted. It gets worn and dirty.
Corners and edges
The joint between tiles and a bath, tray or worktop gets silicone. Grout in that joint wouldn’t last.
