Regrouting for Balephuil homes and businesses

Regrouting for homes and businesses in Balephuil

Grout is the filler between your tiles, and sealant is what goes along the bath, tray or worktop. Once grout starts to crack or wash away, water has a way in behind the tiling. Our job is to rake it out and put new grout in and renew the silicone at the edges. If you have good tiles let down by tired grout and floor grout that has worn and darkened, we can help.

Being further from a city does not change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. We just plan the journey and access beforehand.

Big or small, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee in Balephuil and across Argyll and Bute.

What happens on the day

When we arrive, we look over the joints with you first, so you know exactly what we are doing. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work begins. The work generally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Outside jobs in Balephuil need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Work indoors isn’t affected.

  1. We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
  2. The old grout is removed to an even depth.
  3. The joints are vacuumed clean.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Aftercare tips

Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:

  • Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly
  • Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
  • Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout

If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. Movement will crack the new grout and open a path for water.

Grout that is washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Each shower drives water into the open joints, and that water can reach the wall or the floor below.

What we cannot put right

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:

  • Damaged tiles that need replacing
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
  • A floor or wall that keeps moving

If you are not sure, just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Shower walls
  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom floors
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Tiled floors
  • Kitchen splashbacks

Should I try it myself first?

A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

Why act early in Balephuil

Grout pens and paint-on colourants only cover the surface. They don’t fill cracks or stop water, and stains can show through again. Raking out and regrouting replaces the grout itself. In an older home around Balephuil, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.

A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

What you get with us

  • Full insurance on every job
  • Over 20 years’ experience
  • Sanitary silicone with an anti-fungal additive in wet areas
  • Arbo and Everbuild products

Bathrooms and kitchens in Balephuil

Balephuil is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

Whether the job is in Balephuil itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

Yes. Balephuil is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Do you cover Balephuil for regrouting?

Are you fully insured?

Yes. We are fully insured, and we can confirm the details when we quote.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we’re part of it.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

Normally we do both. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so both are renewed and it’s all in the quote.

What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?

Corners get silicone, not grout. They flex and grout can’t take that movement.

Does someone need to be in?

We need access to the joints, so we will agree that with you when we book. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.

How much does regrouting cost in Balephuil?

Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Balephuil

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works.

If you manage several properties in or around Balephuil, several properties can go on one quote. Send us the addresses and the work at each.

Do you need regrouting in Balephuil?

Movement behind the tiles cracks grout. That can be a loose tile, a flexing floor or a stud wall, so we check the tiles before we start.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Gaps where the shower grout has gone
  • Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
  • Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
  • Cracked grout along the bath or tray

Around Balephuil, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Before you book anyone

  • Who turns up on the day
