Need regrouting in Back?

Regrouting in Back, done properly

We take the old grout out to a consistent depth, without damaging the edges of the tiles. After vacuuming, new grout goes in and the tiles are wiped clean, with silicone renewed in the corners. We work on bathroom floors, wet rooms and shower walls, and people most often call us about a grout colour that no longer suits the room and grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned.

A bathroom in a place like Back gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Back as everywhere else we work.

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. Sealant work between tenants keeps a property looking cared for.

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

What happens if it’s left?

Patching a few joints can look like a quick win, but the patches often do not match, and the old grout keeps failing around them. Doing the full area gives you one colour and sound joints throughout. Around Back, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

What you get with us

  • Homes, businesses and hotels
  • Over 20 years’ experience
  • Fully insured
  • Rated 4.9 stars on Google

The process

There is not much for you to do on the day. Show us the job and we’ll take it from there. The job generally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. In smaller Scottish places, parking is generally less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. We remove the old grout carefully.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

How to prepare

  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Let us know about parking restrictions
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

How to get a quote

Getting a quote is simple: tell us what needs doing and where and its rough size. Photos by email help us understand the job, and we’ll take it from there.

FAQs for Back

What guarantee comes with regrouting in Back?

All our work, in Back and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Can you do regrouting in Back?

Yes, Back is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Does someone need to be in?

That depends on where the joints are. Inside work needs someone to give us access, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.

How long does regrouting take?

That depends on the amount of work, but as a guide it takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. We will give you a better idea when we quote.

Which products do you use?

The product depends on the job: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. We’re fully insured.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Always. Sealing over old sealant is the main reason resealing fails early, so we never do it.

What goes in the corners, grout or silicone?

Silicone. Grout belongs between the tiles, while corners and edges need a joint that can move.

Regrouting in Back: local notes

Back is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.

Around Back, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it. Whether the job is in Back itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

Quotes for regrouting in Back

For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:

  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • Whether the work is at height
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • How many areas need sealing

A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

What to tell us for a quote

You do not need to know the technical terms. It helps if you can tell us:

  • The rough size of the job
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height

We don’t publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, we send you a clear quote for your job. To arrange one, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

When it is not the sealant

To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:

  • Tiles that are chipped or split
  • Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
  • Movement in a stud wall or floor

If you’re not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

What we seal

  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom floors
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Shower walls
  • Tiled floors

Should I try it myself first?

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

Different surfaces, different methods

Wet rooms

Both the grout and the silicone in a wet room matter. We renew both.

Bathroom floors

New floor grout makes a big difference to how a bathroom looks. Floor-to-wall and bath joints are sealed, not grouted.
