Regrouting in Afton, Isle of Wight
Problem with your tiled areas in Afton? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly, with a 12-month guarantee.
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
- Grout that’s cracking and breaking up
Regrouting in Afton, done properly
A grout colour change can freshen a room without retiling. You might go from white to grey, or the other way round. Just mention the colour you’d like when you call 0345 464 0079 or email us. Common call-outs are for grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned and grout washed out of a shower, on bathroom wall tiles, kitchen splashbacks and wet rooms.
For a small place like Afton, regrouting is planned like any other job: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

The process
When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. After that, the work takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. For a village or hamlet like Afton, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
- Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
- Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
- We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
- The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any parking rules near the property
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Clear items away from the joints we are working on

DIY sealant or a professional job?
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Regrouting around Afton
Afton is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.
For an older house near a landmark such as St. Agnes' Church, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. Managing a site like All Saints Church of England Primary School? Then its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

Why act early in Afton
If tiles are loose, regrouting alone is not the answer. We point that out first, so you can decide what to do. On sound tiles, regrouting avoids the upheaval of a retile. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Afton, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

What affects the cost of regrouting
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. What affects the quote:
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- The type of sealant required
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- How easy the joints are to reach
Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.
Helping us quote
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Try to tell us:
- Where the property is
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Whether it has been sealed before
- Photos by email, if that is easy
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we’ll talk you through what we’d do. Whenever you are ready, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us.
Common questions in Afton
Is Afton in your area for regrouting?
Yes, Afton is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us what needs doing.
Will you come out to Afton?
Yes. Afton is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
How much does regrouting cost in Afton?
It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. For a quick quote, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us what needs doing and where.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator, and we’re fully insured.
Is there any odour?
Sometimes, a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
What do you put in the joint?
The product depends on the job: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We’re fully insured.
Is it OK to seal over old sealant?
No. We remove every bit of old sealant first, so the new joint bonds to clean surfaces.
What we can’t put right
New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t solve:
- Damaged tiles that need replacing
- A structure that flexes behind the tiles
- A leaking wet room membrane
Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will tell you honestly.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Wet rooms
- Bathroom floors
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Shower walls
- Tiled floors

Keeping the joints in good condition
After the cure time, these simple habits help:
- Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
- Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
- Keep the fan on after showering
- Wipe water off the walls when you are done
Leave the area unused for as long as we advise, so it can harden properly. After that, rinse the tiles after showering and keep the room ventilated.
If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.
