Our bathroom resealing service in RG29

Before a bath is sealed, it’s filled with water. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the bead is not stretched the first time someone gets in. Quick jobs often leave it out, and it makes a real difference. Common call-outs are for water escaping at the shower enclosure and damp behind the bath or under the tray, across kitchen worktops & upstands, basins & vanity units and baths.

Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we don’t rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. In total, it normally takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers.

  1. We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead.
  2. We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.

How we quote

Landmarks near Odiham

Typical jobs here are in homes near All Saints Church, The Bell Inn and Mayhill Junior School and the streets around them. The closest station to Odiham is Hook station, roughly 2.1 miles north-west of the centre. A little further out are West Green House Agricultural Museum (3.3 miles north) and Odiham Castle (1.2 miles north-west). For a walk, there’s Dogmersfield Lake and Tundry Hill.

Bathrooms and kitchens across RG29

From Odiham, North Warnborough and South Warnborough to its smaller places, homes across RG29 have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Sealant and grout wear out in all of them, whether it’s a family bathroom, a rented flat or a hotel en suite.

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings. Whatever the job in RG29, surfaces are cleaned back properly before new sealant goes in.

Odiham: If you let a flat or house near Hook station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. If you live in an older home near All Saints Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

Keeping the joints in good condition

Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade
  • Do not let bottles sit on the bead
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing

Keep water off the new bead until it has cured, which is usually around 24 hours. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.

Watch for the early signs: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. If you spot one, it’s time to reseal.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in RG29

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:

  • The amount of work
  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • The product the joint needs
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with

There are no prices on our website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll talk you through it.

Helping us quote

When you call or email, it’s useful to know:

  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Photos by email, if that’s easy

Asking for a quote is easy: let us know what needs doing and where and its rough size. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand.

Why it fails

The wrong product fails fast. Acrylic caulk and general-purpose sealants are not designed for a joint that’s wet every day, so they stain, crack or go mouldy before long. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
  • Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
  • Water escaping at the shower enclosure
  • A joint torn by a bath that flexes

Can I do it myself?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

Honest limits

New sealant cannot fix everything, and we’ll tell you before we start. Sealant will not put right:

  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint

RG29: your questions answered

Are you fully insured?

Yes. We are fully insured.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before resealing.

Can landlords and businesses book you?

Yes. As well as householders, we work for landlords, agents, businesses and hotels in RG29.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do, as well as homes. We can talk about working times when we quote.

What do you need from me for a quote?

A short description and the location. We will ask anything else we need to know.

Can I choose the colour of the sealant?

We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. On a worktop we colour-match where the joint shows.
