Need new build mastic in Bridge of Earn?

Can I do it myself?

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.

New build mastic in Bridge of Earn

Developers send us the plot schedule and we work through it. Bathrooms, en suites, kitchens, frames and skirting are sealed ready for handover with a sealant suited to each area. Common call-outs are for gaps behind new kitchen upstands and leaking shower tray seals in a new home, across bathrooms & en suites, show homes and kitchens.

New homes in smaller Scottish places are often single plots, self-builds or small developments. Each needs its sealant and floor joints finished as carefully as on a big site.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same 12-month guarantee.

Common questions in Bridge of Earn

Is Bridge of Earn in your area for new build mastic?

Yes, Bridge of Earn is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing.

Do you work for landlords with property near Perth station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we will send you a clear quote.

My new home is still under warranty. Should I contact you?

Report it to the builder first while you’re covered. If it is not resolved, we’ll cut it out and reseal it.

How long does new build mastic take?

As a guide, most jobs take a few hours for most snagging lists, longer for a run of plots. Larger jobs naturally take longer, and we’ll say how long yours will take.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. We’re ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.

Where do you work from?

We are a Crawley-based firm, with over 20 years’ experience. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.

What does new build mastic cost?

We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. You’ll get a clear quote before work begins.

When is the sealant fully cured?

Most sealants are touch-dry well before they’re fully cured. We’ll give you the cure time for the product we used before we leave.

Why deal with it now?

A quick bead over the top of the old sealant can look fine at first, but it will not bond to the old layer. Taking it all out and starting again is the only way to get a lasting seal. In a place like Bridge of Earn, small leaks are easy to put off, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.

Combining jobs into one visit normally makes better use of the time than several visits. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.

Quotes for new build mastic in Bridge of Earn

Call for a quick quote. The main things that affect it are:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • The number and length of the joints
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • The product the joint needs

No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part.

Asking for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved

For a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. You will have a clear quote before work begins.

What we are called out for in Bridge of Earn

Later trades and the final clean can damage fresh sealant. If it’s disturbed before curing, the joint can be left weak, and the problem shows up after you move in.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Internal frame sealant that has split
  • Smeared, uneven beads picked up at snagging
  • Joints pulling apart as timber shrinks
  • Beads laid onto grit and dust from the build

For new homes near Perth station, it’s worth checking the sealant early, while snags are still fresh.

Our hiring checklist

How it works

There is not much for you to do on the day. Show us the job and we’ll take it from there. The work itself takes a few hours in a single home, including the tidy-up. Outdoor work around Bridge of Earn depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors is not affected.

  1. We look at why each joint failed, including any movement.
  2. We remove the failed sealant and clean the joints.
  3. Joints are dried and primed where the product calls for it.
  4. New sealant goes in, with baths filled first so they’re at their heaviest.
  5. We check every joint and leave you with the cure times.

How to prepare

  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
  • Clear the area around the work

How to look after the new joints

Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:

  • Photograph failed sealant before it’s redone
  • Wipe joints with warm soapy water
  • Do not seal over failed sealant yourself
  • Keep water off fresh sealant until it has cured

Leave the sealant for the cure time we give you before showering or bathing. Silicone is usually left for about a day to cure enough for use.

Report failed sealant to the builder while you’re in the snagging period. After that, putting it right may fall to you.
