Gutter sealing near Woodlands

What we are called out for in Woodlands

End caps get knocked or pushed by water. Once the seal behind them fails, they drip.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Failed sealant on a garage door frame
  • Stop ends leaking at the end of a run
  • Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
  • Water dripping where gutter sections meet

For an older house near a landmark such as St Comgall's Church, the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move.

Questions to ask before you book

  • How hidden problems are handled
  • How the colour is chosen
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • Is VAT in the price?

Choosing a sealant specialist

Gutter sealing in Woodlands

Sealant only bonds to a clean, dry joint. That is why we take out the old sealant and dirt first and the joint is dried before the new sealant goes in. If you have quick sealant fixes on gutters that didn’t last and gaps along fascia and soffit joints, we can put it right.

In and around a place like Woodlands, many buildings face open ground and take the full weather. Gutter joints and wall joints take a battering, so they need a sealant that moves with the building.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same 12-month guarantee.

What happens on the day

There isn’t much for you to do on the day. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The work itself takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours. Around Woodlands, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. We look at the gutters, fascias and trims and agree the joints to seal.
  2. Each joint is cleaned and any old sealant removed.
  3. We make sure everything is dry.
  4. We apply exterior or gutter sealant and finish it neatly.
  5. We check our work before we leave.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Mention any tricky access

Advice

How the job changes by surface

Soffit joints

Gaps at soffit joints can let in draughts and insects. We close them with a suitable sealant.

Garage door frames

Frame-to-brick joints face the weather. An exterior sealant suits them.

How we quote for gutter sealing

Jobs vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:

  • Any mould that needs treating
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • Which sealant suits the joint

We do not show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll talk you through it.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can tell us:

  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Where the job is, and your postcode

Asking for a quote is easy: let us know the job and the location, and roughly how big it is. A few photos by email make the job easier to understand.

Honest limits

We’d rather tell you now than do work that won’t last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:

  • Downpipes that are blocked or broken
  • Gutters that have dropped or pulled away
  • Leaks from the roof rather than a joint

If you’re not sure, just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

For landlords and businesses

Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too. Several sites can be quoted together, and we’re fully insured for the work.

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.

Your questions about gutter sealing in Woodlands

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often happy for the work to be arranged.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes. More than one area can be quoted together.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We’re fully insured.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. Mr Mastic is an ARBOMaster approved applicator and we are fully insured too.

Can I choose the sealant colour?

We’ll suggest a colour to suit the surroundings. The product needed can limit the range.

How to look after the new joints

Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Clear leaves and moss from the gutters
  • Watch for drips in a downpour
  • Keep downpipes clear
  • Sort out a dripping joint early

Keep downpipes clear, so water can get away. Blockages push water back along the gutter.

If an end cap is dripping, deal with it before winter. Water down the wall all winter can cause damp inside.

Outside joints around Woodlands

Harled (roughcast) walls are common in Scotland, and joints where harling meets other materials need a sealant that can grip and flex. Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that.
