Kemnay Gutter Sealing
Sealing leaking gutter joints, end caps, fascias, soffits and roofline trims for Kemnay, backed by a 12-month guarantee. Call for a quick quote.
- Leaking gutter joints and stop ends
- Cracked sealant along roofline trims
- Earlier gutter repairs that have peeled off
What happens on the day
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and explain the cure time. The visit itself normally takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run, depending on how much there is to do. In smaller Scottish places, parking is normally less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.
- First, we find the drip and check the gutter is not cracked or sagging.
- Old sealant and dirt are removed from the joint.
- The joint is dried, because sealant won’t bond to a wet surface.
- An exterior or gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
- We look along the gutter and clear debris around the joints.
How to prepare
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in

The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints, and email pictures if that’s easy.

How we handle gutter sealing in Kemnay
Garage door frames let rain in when the sealant around them fails. We cut out the old sealant and reseal the frame using a sealant made for outdoor use. We work on soffit joints, gutter end caps and gutter joints, and common reasons people get in touch are open joints in fascias and soffits and water running down the wall below the gutter.
Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Kemnay depends on the weather, and longer journeys are planned in advance. Tell us how to reach each wall, gutter and roofline.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after we’ve gone.

Should I try it myself first?
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
Your questions about gutter sealing in Kemnay
Will you come out to Kemnay?
Yes. Kemnay is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Do you cover Kemnay for gutter sealing?
Yes. We work across all of Scotland, and Kemnay is part of that. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.
What should I tell you?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Just list everything you need.
What do you put in the joint?
Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, chosen to suit the joint. We will tell you what we’re using and why.
Will sealing fix a sagging gutter?
It will not last. The joint will pull apart, so the fall and brackets need sorting first.
Will there be a smell?
Sometimes, a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We’re ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
How to look after the new joints
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:
- Watch for drips in a downpour
- Keep an eye out for wet patches below a joint
- Keep ladders off the guttering
- Sort out a dripping joint early
Give the sealant the cure time we tell you and avoid disturbing it.
If an end cap is dripping, deal with it before winter. Water down the wall all winter can cause damp.
Outside joints around Kemnay
Under the Repairing Standard, private landlords in Scotland have to keep homes wind and watertight, and sound outside sealant is part of that. Plenty of Scottish homes have harled walls, and joints where harling meets other materials need a sealant that can grip and flex.
If you let a flat or house near Kintore station, leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls. If you live in an older home near Kemnay Parish Church, older walls, gutters and the joints where extensions meet them need a flexible sealant.

Asking for a quote
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

- The rough size of the job
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking

Signs you need gutter sealing in Kemnay
Gutter joints depend on seals that wear out. Sun and cold make the gutter expand and contract, and old seals crack or slip.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Internal damp traced to a gutter joint
- Dripping gutter ends
- Open joints in fascias and soffits
- Cracked sealant along roofline trims
Schools such as Kemnay Academy are buildings too, and movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s.
What your quote should include
- What happens if the job turns out different
- Is VAT in the price?
- What the cure time is
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
Why it’s worth doing now in Kemnay
You don’t need to replace a garage door because rain gets in round the frame. Resealing the frame joint is often enough, if the frame itself is sound. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.
