About our gutter sealing in Whiterow
We work across Whiterow on leaking gutter joints and roofline trims. Low-level work is straightforward and if it’s higher up, let us know and we’ll confirm what access is needed. Common call-outs are for streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint and end caps that drip every time it rains, across garage door frames, soffit joints and gutter joints.
Across smaller places in Scotland, stone and harled cottages, farm buildings and newer houses often stand exposed to wind and rain. Outside joints on exposed walls work hard, so they need a sealant that moves with the building.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Whiterow buildings and the weather
Whiterow is close to the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. That is hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, especially on the side facing the sea. Harled (roughcast) walls are common in Scotland, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface.
If you look after a building such as Wick High School, movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s. Homes close to Pulteneytown Parish Church include some older properties, and the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move. For landlords with property near Wick station, a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside.
Whiterow is about 19 miles south-east of Thurso, in Highland. We carry out gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Whiterow. Our Highland coverage runs to 253 places, and Whiterow is one of them.
Our applicators cover all of the KW1 postcode area for gutter sealing and the streets around it. Close by, we work in Wick (1 mile north), Haster (3 miles north-west), Staxigoe (3 miles north-east), Thrumster (3 miles south-west) and Ackergillshore (3 miles north). For island and remote addresses, the job takes a little more planning, so mention it when you ask for a quote.
Around Whiterow
Typical jobs here are in homes near Bignold Park. For rail, the closest station is Wick station, roughly 1.2 miles north of the centre. A little further out are Wick Heritage Museum (1.2 miles north) and Castle of Old Wick (0.6 miles east). Open spaces near Whiterow include Loch Hempriggs.
Leave it or put it right?
A new garage door is not needed for a leaking frame. Resealing the frame joint is often enough, if the frame itself is sound. Around Whiterow, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

- Every job guaranteed for a year
- You choose the colour before work begins
- Full insurance on every job

What affects the cost of gutter sealing
The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- When we can work, for business premises
- The type of sealant required
- The number and length of the joints
There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a quick quote.
What to tell us for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- If someone has resealed it before
- What’s wrong with the joints now
To get a quote, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the location and a short description of the problem. We’ll give you a clear price before any work starts.
For landlords and businesses
Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.
We work for letting agents and landlords as well as homeowners. Resealing between tenancies keeps a property looking cared for.
When it is not the sealant
Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not solve:
- Water backing up from a blocked pipe
- Roof leaks, slipped tiles or failed flashing (a roofer’s job)
- Cracked, split or warped gutter sections
Not sure which it is? You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Roofline trims
- Gutter end caps
- uPVC fascias
- Garage door frames
- Gutter joints
- Soffit joints
Can I do it myself?
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, then guaranteed for a year.
Looking after it afterwards
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Keep ladders off the guttering
- Keep the gutters clear of debris
- Watch for drips in a downpour
- Look along the fascias for open joints
Leave the new sealant to cure as we advise before poking or cleaning near it.
If an end cap is dripping, deal with it before winter. A winter of drips can lead to damp patches inside.

Common questions in Whiterow
Is Whiterow within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Do you work for landlords with property near Wick station?
Yes. We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details for a clear quote.
Is it worth trying it myself?
Sometimes. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. If it does not work out, we can redo it.
Is it OK to seal over old sealant?
No. The old sealant always comes out first.
Do you install new fascias or gutters?
We don’t replace gutters or fascias. If a gutter is broken or sagging, we’ll tell you.
Can I choose the sealant colour?
Generally, yes. Sealants come in white, clear, grey and other colours for many products, and we’ll agree it with you first.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
We work from Crawley. We cover Whiterow and the rest of Highland.
How do I get a quote for gutter sealing in Whiterow?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. You will get a clear quote before work begins.
How the visit works
Once we are on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours. In smaller Scottish places, parking is normally less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.
- We start by tracing the leak and checking the gutter itself is sound.
- Old sealant and dirt are removed from the joint.
- We make sure the joint is dry before sealing.
- Gutter or exterior sealant is applied and finished.
- We check the run and clear any debris we find while we’re there.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
