About our gutter sealing in Star

Gutter and fascia replacement is not our trade, and nor is roofing. What sealant does is close joints and it can’t mend broken brackets, split sections or blocked downpipes. If you are dealing with streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint and damp patches inside below a leaking gutter, we can put it right.

In and around a place like Star, many buildings face open ground and take the full weather. Gutter joints and wall joints take a battering.

You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything is not right with it, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Star questions

Do you cover smaller places like Star?

Yes. Star is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across all of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Do you work for landlords with property near Markinch station?

Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details for a clear quote.

How much does gutter sealing cost in Star?

We don’t publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. You will get a clear quote before work begins.

Can I do it myself?

That depends on the joint. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional, while a short indoor joint may be within reach.

What about gutters on a second or third storey?

Low-level work is easiest. We will confirm the access for higher gutters once we know more.

Do you offer different sealant colours?

Yes. White, clear and grey are common, and other colours are available, and we agree the colour with you before any work starts.

How long does the job take?

Typically it takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours. Bigger jobs take longer.

Do I need to be at home?

For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Signs you need gutter sealing in Star

When a gutter sags, its joints open. Resealing a sagging joint won’t last so the brackets need attention first.

People generally contact us after spotting one of these:

  • Failed sealant on a garage door frame
  • Drips from gutter joints and end caps
  • Cracked sealant along roofline trims
  • Gaps along fascia and soffit joints

In and around Star, as anywhere, good gutter sealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

10 questions to ask before you book

Why act early in Star

You don’t need to replace a garage door because rain gets in round the frame. Sealing the frame normally stops it. When the nearest tradesperson is a drive away, it’s tempting to leave a small leak, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.

A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, as water and mould keep getting in. If you’re not sure whether it needs doing, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

What you get with us

  • We agree the colour with you first

What the job involves on each surface

Garage door frames

Failed sealant around a garage door frame lets water in. We cut it out and reseal.

Soffit joints

Open soffit joints let draughts in. A neat seal closes them.

How to look after the new joints

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Sort out a dripping joint early
  • Look at the gutters while it’s raining
  • Do not leave a sagging gutter
  • Keep the gutters clear of debris

Clear the gutters once or twice a year, so water drains away past the joints. Standing water strains every seal.

Split sealant on fascias and trims lets water in behind. Sealing it early keeps the boards behind dry and the wall below.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:

  • Guttering that needs replacing
  • Fascias that need replacing
  • Sagging gutters or broken brackets

If you are not sure, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.

How we quote for gutter sealing

We do not publish a price list. The quote depends on:

  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Access and height
  • The amount of work
  • The number of rooms or windows

No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference.

What to tell us for a quote

To help us quote quickly, let us know:

  • Roughly how big the job is
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • Where the property is

To get a quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. We’ll send you a clear quote before any work starts.

How the visit works

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and explain the cure time. The work normally takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access, depending on the size of the job. Somewhere like Star may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.

  1. First we trace the drip and check the gutter isn’t damaged.
  2. We remove the old sealant and clean the joint.
  3. We dry the joint so the new sealant can bond.
  4. A gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
  5. We check the run and clear debris near the joints.

How to prepare

  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Rented homes near Markinch station change hands often, and a dripping gutter joint or loose fascia trim is easy to miss until damp shows inside.
