Need commercial sealant in Star?

Should I try it myself first?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

How we handle commercial sealant in Star

Commercial work is planned around the building, not the other way round. Rooms can be done one at a time, floor by floor or in batches, and out-of-hours work or early starts can be arranged. We work on rental portfolios, student & care accommodation and welfare facilities, and people most often call us about black, stained silicone in guest bathrooms and water marks on ceilings under bathrooms.

If you look after holiday lets, a guest house or a community building in or near Star, washroom and kitchen sealant and any fire-rated joints need the same attention as anywhere.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Star: your questions answered

Do you cover Star for commercial sealant?

Yes, Star is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Markinch station?

Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders, and several properties can be quoted together. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details for a clear quote.

Can I choose the sealant colour?

We’ll suggest a colour to suit the surroundings. The choice depends on the product the joint needs.

Is it messy?

Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.

Is it OK to seal over old sealant?

No. Fresh sealant does not stick to old sealant, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. It all has to come out first.

Do you hold any approvals?

Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we are part of it.

Do I have to be there?

Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.

How long does the job take?

Most jobs take a few hours per area, with larger sites planned over several visits, including the preparation. Your quote will say how long we expect yours to take.

Surface by surface

Rental portfolios

Landlords and agents can have several properties resealed in one programme and each property booked in when it’s empty or convenient.

Hotel bathrooms

Early starts or out-of-hours work can be arranged around check-out and check-in, with the order agreed with your team.

What happens if it’s left?

Sealant is easy to forget until an audit or inspection is due. Planning the work ahead means rooms are finished and cured in time. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

There are no prices on our website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll talk you through it.

Why book with us

  • Approved under the ARBOMaster scheme
  • More than 20 years in sealant work
  • 12-month guarantee on every job
  • Arbo and Everbuild products

When something else is needed

In fairness, some problems need a different trade:

  • Certifying fire stopping or building compliance
  • Extraction that is not working, which needs an electrician or ventilation contractor
  • Faulty shower valves and leaking traps

Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we seal

  • Office washrooms & kitchens
  • Hotel bathrooms
  • Student & care accommodation
  • Retail & leisure sites

  • Welfare facilities

How it works

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The job generally takes as long as the scope needs, from one welfare room to a full building. Outdoor work around Star depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.

  1. Tell us the rooms, hours and site rules, and we’ll plan the programme.
  2. Tell us what paperwork your site needs, and we confirm what we can supply before any work starts.
  3. In each room, the old bead comes out and the joint is cleaned and treated.
  4. Anti-fungal sanitary silicone goes into wet areas, with suitable sealant elsewhere.
  5. Rooms are handed back in order, each with its cure time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Mention any tricky access

How we quote for commercial sealant

Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:

  • When we can work, for business premises
  • How many areas need sealing
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • The type of sealant required

Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you an honest view and a quote.

Helping us quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
  • The address or postcode of the job

Every job is quoted individually. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details, and photos are welcome.

For landlords and businesses

Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. We can quote for more than one property at once.

Letting agents and landlords in Star can book us as well as householders. Resealing between tenancies is a simple way to keep a property in good order before the next move-in.
