Need gutter sealing in Seton?

Why deal with it now?

A dripping stop end can soak the wall right through the wet months. Resealing it is a quick job compared with treating damp later. In a place like Seton, small leaks are easy to put off, but water through a failed joint keeps working away until it’s fixed.

There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a quick quote.

About our gutter sealing in Seton

Gaps along uPVC fascias and soffits look untidy and can let in water and draughts. They’re sealed in a matching colour where one is available. If you are dealing with rain getting in around a garage door and gaps along fascia and soffit joints, we can help, on soffit joints, garage door frames and uPVC fascias alike.

Older stone buildings need a sealant that suits the stone, not an acetoxy product that can mark or attack it. Newer houses need their movement joints and roofline trims kept sound.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Keeping the joints in good condition

Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:

  • Check that water runs out of the downpipes
  • Check fascia and soffit joints for gaps
  • Keep the gutters clear of debris
  • Don’t leave a sagging gutter

Make sure downpipes aren’t blocked, so water can get away. A blocked pipe backs water up to the joints.

A drip from a gutter joint won’t stop on its own. The same spot gets soaked every time it rains, which can lead to staining and damp.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

FAQs for Seton

Does living near the coast affect gutter sealing in Seton?

Coastal homes put outside sealant through more weather than inland ones, so preparation and the right sealant matter all the more. Walls facing the sea are normally the first to need attention.

Do you work for landlords with property near Prestonpans station?

Yes, we work for landlords and agents. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear quote.

Is sealant enough for a gutter that has dropped?

Sealant won’t hold a sagging gutter. A gutter installer needs to refix it.

Do the sealants smell?

Sometimes, a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures.

How long will you be here?

As a guide, most jobs take a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. Bigger jobs take longer.

Do you cover Seton?

Yes. From our base in Crawley, we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland, and that includes Seton.

Are you insured?

Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured, and we’ve been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.

Is gutter cleaning part of the job?

We clear debris around the joints we are sealing. Full gutter cleaning is a separate job.

What affects the cost of gutter sealing

The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:

  • The product the joint needs
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Any mould that needs treating

Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference.

What to tell us for a quote

Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:

  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • A few photos by email, if you can
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel

Want a quote for gutter sealing? Please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details. We’ll explain what we’d do and give you a clear price before we start.

What the job involves on each surface

Gutter end caps

Stop ends hold back water at the end of a run. A failed seal makes them leak.

uPVC fascias

We seal fascia joints, not replace the boards. If boards are damaged, we will tell you.

When something else is needed

To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:

  • Boards that have decayed or split
  • Gutters that have dropped or pulled away
  • Downpipes that are blocked or broken

Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

How the visit works

Once we’re on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. For a place like Seton, longer drives are planned in advance. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.

  1. First, we find the drip and check the gutter isn’t cracked or sagging.
  2. The joint or trim is cleaned out and old sealant removed.
  3. We make sure the joint is dry before sealing.
  4. An exterior or gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
  5. We check the run and clear any debris we find while we’re there.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Mention any tricky access

Walls and rooflines in Seton

Seton is close to the coast, where wind-driven rain is a fact of life and, nearer the shore, so is salt air. Both are hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, which can dry out and crack sooner where a building faces the weather. Plenty of Scottish homes have harled walls, and joints where harling meets other materials need a sealant that can grip and flex.

In the older streets around Tranent Parish Church, the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move. For landlords with property near Prestonpans station, a gutter joint that drips onto the wall can turn into a damp complaint, so it’s worth checking. Schools such as Ross High School are buildings too, and its movement joints, gutters and trims need looking after like any other building’s.

Seton is about 4 miles east of Musselburgh, in East Lothian. Jobs in Seton get the same care as everywhere else we work: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. We cover 48 towns and villages across East Lothian. We also work in Edinburgh, around 10 miles away.

We cover every part of the EH32 postcode area for gutter sealing. Gutter sealing is available to properties on Springdale Road, Greendykes Way and Princes Way.
