Gutter sealing for Reraig homes and businesses

How we handle gutter sealing in Reraig

Our work covers gutter joints and end caps as well as fascias and soffits, along with roofline trims and garage door frames. It’s all about the joints rather than new guttering. If you have garage door frames letting rain in and gaps along fascia and soffit joints, we can put it right.

Stone walls need a stone-friendly sealant, as acetoxy products can attack some stone. Newer houses need their movement joints and roofline trims kept sound.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

The process

Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and explain the cure time. The visit itself generally takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run, depending on the amount of work. Around Reraig, distance and access matter more than parking. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.

  1. We find where the water is coming from and check the gutter is sound.
  2. The old sealant and dirt are cleaned out of the joint.
  3. The joint is dried before sealing.
  4. A gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
  5. The gutter is checked and debris around the joints cleared.

Your questions about gutter sealing in Reraig

Does the coastal weather in Reraig affect outside sealant?

Near the coast, wind-driven rain and, nearer the shore, salt air make outside sealant work harder. The right product, a clean joint and the right depth all help it cope.

I let a flat near Kyle of Lochalsh station. Can you help?

Yes, we work for landlords and agents. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Will you leave a mess?

Not at all. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

Our base is Crawley. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.

Will you clear out my gutters?

We clear what’s around the joints we work on. Full gutter cleaning is a separate job.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Of course. Doing several areas at once is generally more efficient.

Do you work in Reraig?

Yes. From our base in Crawley, we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.

Are you insured?

Yes, we are fully insured for every job we do.

What affects the cost of gutter sealing

You’ll get a clear quote before we start. It takes into account:

  • Any mould that needs treating
  • The size of the job
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • Access and height

Combining jobs into one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits. We will give you a clear price for the lot.

Asking for a quote

Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:

  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • Where the job is, and your postcode

For a quote, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. We will send you a clear quote before any work starts.

When something else is needed

New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t solve:

  • Cracked, split or warped gutter sections
  • Problems with the roof covering
  • Rotten or damaged fascia boards

Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Joints and surfaces we work on

  • Gutter end caps
  • uPVC fascias
  • Roofline trims
  • Soffit joints
  • Garage door frames
  • Gutter joints

Aftercare tips

So the new joints stay in good condition:

  • Clean out the gutters once or twice a year
  • Sort out a dripping joint early
  • Check the gutters during heavy rain
  • Keep ladders off the guttering

Keep the gutters clear of leaves and moss so water doesn’t sit on the joints. Standing water strains every seal.

Split sealant on fascias and trims lets water in behind. Sealing it early keeps the boards behind dry and the wall below.

What gutter sealing looks like in Reraig

Reraig is close to the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. Both are hard on gutter, fascia and roofline joints, which can dry out and crack sooner where a building faces the weather. Under the Repairing Standard, private landlords in Scotland have to keep homes wind and watertight, and failed outside joints work against that.

Letting a property close to Kyle of Lochalsh station? Then leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls.

Reraig is in Highland. Reraig gets the same service as everywhere we cover: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. Reraig is one of 253 places in Highland we cover for gutter sealing.

Postcode districts we cover here for gutter sealing: IV40. Close by, we work in Balmacara (1 mile north-west), Auchtertyre (1 mile east), Kyle of Lochalsh (3 miles west), Drumbuie (3 miles north-west) and Erbusaig (4 miles west). Remote and island addresses need a little more planning, so tell us where you are when you ask for a quote.

Common problems we fix in Reraig

Debris in the gutter keeps water sitting at the joints. Water that cannot drain works its way through a weak joint and leaks out.

It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:

  • Rain getting in around a garage door
  • Wet patches on the wall under a gutter joint
  • Old sealant on roofline trims that has split
  • Open joints in fascias and soffits

If you live in an older home near Lochalsh Parish Church, the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move.

Comparing quotes

  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • The length of the guarantee
  • How much experience the applicator has
  • Whether all the old sealant comes out first

Our hiring checklist

Should I try it myself first?

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

How the job changes by surface

Soffit joints

Soffit board joints can separate over time. They’re sealed to tidy the line.

Roofline trims

We reseal trim joints with an exterior sealant suited to the material.
