Gutter Sealing in Old Deer
Gutter sealing across Old Deer and nearby, with every bit of old sealant taken out first and a one-year guarantee.

- Guttering that needs replacing
- Sagging gutters or broken brackets

Gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Old Deer
We seal leaking gutter joints, end caps, fascia and soffit joints, along with roofline trims and garage door frames. It’s joint work, not replacing the gutter. Typical jobs include gaps along fascia and soffit joints and old gutter sealant that has let go, on uPVC fascias, garage door frames and gutter end caps.
Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Old Deer depends on the weather, and longer journeys are planned in advance. Tell us how to reach each wall, gutter and roofline.
Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, whatever its size.

Should I try it myself first?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, then guaranteed for a year.
Leave it or put it right?
You do not need new fascias just because the joints have opened. A neat seal closes the gaps if the boards are sound. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. For a quick quote, please drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will talk you through it.

How we quote for gutter sealing
Your quote is based on your job. We look at:
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- Any working-time requirements on site
- The number of rooms or windows
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.
Asking for a quote
Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Please mention:
- The type of property
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- The problem you’ve noticed
- How we’d reach the joints

How do I get a quote for gutter sealing in Old Deer?
Every job is different, so each one gets its own quote. For a quick quote, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing and where.
What sealant do you use?
The product depends on the job: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.
What about gutters on a second or third storey?
Low-level work is easiest. For anything higher, we will confirm what access is needed before we book.
Is sealant enough for a gutter that has dropped?
Sealing a sagging joint will not last. A gutter installer needs to refix it.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. We can plan bigger jobs in stages.
Do you seal gaps in fascias and soffits?
Yes. Our work is the joints, and if a board is damaged, we’ll tell you.
Walls and rooflines in Old Deer
Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and sound outside sealant is part of that. Plenty of Scottish homes have harled walls, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface.
In the older streets around St Drostan's Episcopal Church, the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move. Schools such as Mintlaw Academy are buildings too, and its movement joints, gutters and trims need looking after like any other building’s.

Different surfaces, different methods
Gutter end caps
End caps are resealed where they meet the gutter, after cleaning and drying.
Roofline trims
We seal the trims, not the roof. A roofer deals with the roof itself.
The process
A visit follows a simple pattern: we check the joints, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, do the work and clear up. It normally takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours. In smaller Scottish places, parking is usually less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints.
- First we trace the drip and check the gutter is not damaged.
- The old sealant and dirt are cleaned out of the joint.
- The joint is dried before sealing.
- We seal the joint with a sealant made for gutters.
- The gutter is checked and debris around the joints cleared.
Before we arrive
- Clear items away from the joints we are working on
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts

Advice
Looking after it afterwards
Aftercare is simple:
- Look for streaks or damp on the wall below gutters
- Don’t leave a sagging gutter
- Clean out the gutters once or twice a year
- Get leaks sealed before the wet months
Keep downpipes clear, so water can get away. A blocked pipe backs water up to the joints.
A leaking garage frame lets water reach stored items. A reseal sorts it.
