Your questions about gutter sealing in Northchapel

Is Northchapel in your area for gutter sealing?

Do you work for landlords with property near Haslemere station?

Yes. We work for landlords and agents as well as homeowners. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Is it possible to stop a gutter joint dripping with sealant?

Normally, if the gutter is sound. We clean and dry the joint before sealing so the seal holds.

What do you put in the joint?

Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We will tell you what we’re using and why.

Can you seal over the old sealant?

No, because it fails. The old sealant always comes out first, so the new joint bonds to clean surfaces.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status, and we are fully insured.

How long before the joint can be used?

That depends on the sealant used, so follow the cure time we give you when we finish.

What should I tell you?

A short description and the location, with photos by email if possible. We will ask anything else we need to know.

Gutter sealing in Northchapel

A drip at a gutter joint is easy to ignore, but the water lands on the same spot every time it rains. Resealing it is a small job while the gutter is still sound. Typical jobs include dripping gutter ends and fascia boards with gaps between them, across soffit joints, gutter joints and roofline trims.

Somewhere as small as Northchapel, homes and farm buildings often face open ground, where walls and rooflines take the weather head on. Joints on those walls need a sealant that moves with the building and stays in place.

You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything is not right with it, ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

What happens on the day

Good joint work is mostly preparation, and we don’t rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. All told, the work takes anything from an hour or two to a few hours. Somewhere like Northchapel needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. First we agree which joints need sealing.
  2. Each joint is cleaned and any old sealant removed.
  3. We make sure everything is dry.
  4. The sealant is applied and finished.
  5. The joints are checked once sealed.

Aftercare tips

No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. Our tips:

  • Have sagging gutters refixed early
  • Check that water runs out of the downpipes
  • Look for streaks or damp on the wall below gutters
  • Glance at the soffit joints now and then

If a gutter starts to sag, get the brackets looked at. Movement will pull the joints open again.

A leaking garage frame lets water reach stored items. A reseal sorts it while the frame is sound.

Walls and rooflines in Northchapel

Historic houses like Petworth House (about 4.9 miles south) are a reminder that the area around Northchapel has older buildings as well as new. In older buildings, older brick and stone need a sealant that suits them, at the right joint depth. The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, though outdoor sealant still has to go onto a dry joint, so the forecast decides the day.

Managing a site like Northchapel Community Primary School? Then its movement joints, gutters and trims need looking after like any other building’s. If you let a flat or house near Haslemere station, leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls. Homes close to The Parish Church of St Michael include some older properties, and old and new materials meet at the roofline and walls, which is where sealant earns its keep.

Leave it or put it right?

You do not need to replace a garage door because rain gets in round the frame. Resealing the frame joint is often enough. In a small place like Northchapel, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference, and we will explain the quote if you ask.

Gutter end caps

A leaking end cap sends water straight down the wall. It’s a small job to fix.

Roofline trims

We reseal trim joints with an exterior sealant.

Can I do it myself?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We remove it and do the joint properly.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
