Gutter, fascia & soffit sealing in Newbridge, Dumfries and Galloway

Problem with your gutter and fascia joints in Newbridge? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly, with a 12-month guarantee.

  • Wet patches on the wall under a gutter joint
  • Rain getting in around a garage door
  • Cracked sealant along roofline trims

Need gutter sealing in Newbridge?

What happens if it’s left?

Water from a leaking joint hits the same spot every time. Left, it can stain walls and lead to damp, so it’s worth sealing early. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.

Why us?

  • Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas
  • Quality sealants from Arbo and Everbuild
  • Old sealant always removed completely
  • We leave the area clean and tidy

Gutter sealing in Newbridge, done properly

Open fascia and soffit joints spoil the roofline and can let weather in. They’re sealed in a matching colour where one is available. We work on roofline trims, gutter end caps and soffit joints, and people most often call us about rain getting in around a garage door and dripping gutter ends.

Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Newbridge depends on the weather. Tell us how to reach each wall, gutter and roofline.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Outside joints around Newbridge

Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and sound outside sealant is part of that. Harled (roughcast) walls are common in Scotland, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface.

Letting a property close to Dumfries station? Then leaking gutter joints on a rental are best caught before they stain the walls. For an older house near a landmark such as Holywood Parish Church And Churchyard, old and new materials meet at the roofline and walls, which is where sealant earns its keep.

Can I do it myself?

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

What affects the cost of gutter sealing

We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:

  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • How many areas need sealing
  • The old material and how stubborn it is

A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re unsure, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

Helping us quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • A few photos by email, if you can
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs

If you are in Newbridge and need gutter sealing, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk. Tell us what the problem is and where, and you will get a clear quote before we start.

What we are called out for in Newbridge

A sealant applied to a damp or dirty joint will not bond. Some quick repairs peel off within a season or two.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Gaps along fascia and soffit joints
  • Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
  • Dripping gutter ends
  • Old sealant on roofline trims that has split

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Maxwelltown High School, movement joints, cladding joints and gutters on larger buildings need the same care as a house’s.

What to look for in a quote

  • How long the guarantee is
  • What insurance they hold
  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why
  • How long to leave it before use

Newbridge questions

Will you come out to Newbridge?

Yes. Newbridge is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Do you work for landlords with property near Dumfries station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear quote.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We are approved under the ARBOMaster scheme.

Where are you based?

We’re based in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Is it possible to stop a gutter joint dripping with sealant?

Normally, if the gutter is sound. We clean and dry the joint before sealing so the seal holds.

Do you install new fascias or gutters?

No. Our work is sealing joints and replacement is a job for an installer.

Does someone need to be in?

If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you don’t need to watch us work.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes, regularly. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area.

Different surfaces, different methods

uPVC fascias

Fascia board joints can open up. We seal them neatly in a suitable colour.

Gutter end caps

We seal end caps from the inside where we can reach once clean and dry.

What happens on the day

Once we’re on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a few hours, depending on the number of joints and the access. Outside jobs in Newbridge need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Work indoors isn’t affected.

  1. We look at where the water is coming from and check the gutter isn’t broken or sagging.
  2. We clean out the joint and take out the old sealant.
  3. The area is dried so the sealant can bond.
  4. Gutter or exterior sealant is applied and finished.
  5. The run is checked and any debris near the joints is cleared.

How to prepare

  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Let us know about parking restrictions
  • Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
