Gutter sealing for Longmoor homes and businesses

Different surfaces, different methods

uPVC fascias

We seal fascia joints, not replace the boards. Damaged boards need replacing by an installer.

Garage door frames

The joint between frame and brickwork moves and weathers. An exterior sealant suits them.

Gutter sealing for homes and businesses in Longmoor

For gutter sealant to hold, the joint has to be clean and dry. So the old sealant and grime come out first and the joint is dried before the new sealant goes in. We work on gutter end caps, soffit joints and roofline trims, and people most often call us about damp on an inside wall under a dripping gutter and earlier gutter repairs that have peeled off.

Outside joints can only be sealed when they’re dry, so work in Longmoor is booked around the forecast. Tell us about access to all sides of the building, including outbuildings and garages.

Your job is guaranteed for a year, as with all our work.

Can I do it myself?

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

Compared with the north and west, the South East gets less rain, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.

If you look after a building such as Greatham Primary School, its movement joints, gutters and trims need looking after like any other building’s.

Questions from Longmoor

Can you do gutter sealing in Longmoor?

Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Longmoor is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us what needs doing.

Do you cover smaller places like Longmoor?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

What information do you need?

Just the basics: the address or postcode, what’s wrong and any access issues. After that, simply phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.

What do you put in the joint?

Each joint gets the product that suits it. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference.

Do you guarantee gutter sealing?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee.

Can you work on commercial sites?

Yes. We have worked for hotels, offices and other businesses and we’re fully insured.

What about gutters on a second or third storey?

It depends on the access. Let us know the height and the ground below when you phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Will there be a smell?

Possibly a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures.

The process

We bring everything the job needs with us, so there’s nothing for you to buy. After a quick look at the joints together, we protect the area and start. It normally takes an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. Somewhere as small as Longmoor, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. First we trace the drip and check the gutter is not damaged.
  2. The old sealant and dirt are cleaned out of the joint.
  3. We dry the joint so the new sealant can bond.
  4. A gutter sealant is applied to the joint.
  5. The gutter is checked and debris around the joints cleared.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

How to look after the new joints

How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Keep ladders off the guttering
  • Have sagging gutters refixed early
  • Look for streaks or damp on the wall below gutters
  • Check the gutters during heavy rain

Look at fascia and trim joints when you are checking the gutters. Splits are easier to seal early.

If an end cap is dripping, deal with it before winter. Water down the wall all winter can cause damp inside.

For landlords and businesses

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

Hotels need rooms back in use, so we plan the work room by room. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.

When to call us in Longmoor

A sealant applied to a damp or dirty joint won’t bond. Some quick repairs peel off within a season or two for this reason.

The problems people normally mention when they call are:

  • Quick sealant fixes on gutters that didn’t last
  • Fascia boards with gaps between them
  • Streaks down the brickwork from a leaking joint
  • Old sealant on roofline trims that has split

For landlords with property near Liss station, a gutter joint that drips onto the wall can turn into a damp complaint, so it’s worth checking.

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • What the cure time is
  • Whether VAT is included
  • How the surfaces are prepared before sealing

Our hiring checklist

Leave it or put it right?

A bead squeezed onto a wet joint might hold for a while but it tends to peel off. Cleaning out and drying the joint first is what makes it last. Older cottages and farmhouses around Longmoor can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Ask us for a quote and we will explain what it covers.
