Gutter, fascia & soffit sealing in California, Falkirk
Gutter sealing across California and nearby, with every bit of old sealant taken out first.
- Drips from gutter joints and end caps
- Old sealant on roofline trims that has split
- Wet patches on the wall under a gutter joint
About our gutter sealing in California
We seal leaking gutter joints, end caps, fascia and soffit joints, along with roofline trims and garage door frames. It’s all about the joints rather than new guttering. If you are dealing with internal damp traced to a gutter joint and rain getting in around a garage door, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
Older stone buildings need a sealant that suits the stone, not an acetoxy product that can mark or attack it. Newer houses need their movement joints and roofline trims kept sound.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Why act early in California
A dripping gutter joint keeps wetting the same patch of wall. Over time that can stain brickwork, mark render and encourage damp so early sealing is worthwhile. In an older home around California, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.
Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. Size, access and the product the joint needs all play a part.
Why book with us
- Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet
- We agree the colour with you first
- Sealant colour chosen to suit

Common questions in California
Will you come out to California?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Do you work for landlords with property near Polmont station?
Yes. We work for letting agents and landlords as well as homeowners, and several properties can be quoted together. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details for a clear quote.
Is sealing fascia joints something you do?
Yes, it’s a common job. The gaps are cleaned and sealed neatly with a suitable exterior sealant.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
Does someone need to be in?
Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. Indoors, that usually means someone at home.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
Our base is in Crawley, West Sussex, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.
What do you put in the joint?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, picked for each joint. We explain the product when we quote.
When is the sealant fully cured?
That depends on the sealant used, so follow the cure time we give you.
Different surfaces, different methods
uPVC fascias
We seal fascia joints, not replace the boards. Damaged boards need replacing by an installer.
Roofline trims
We seal the trims, not the roof. Roofing problems need a roofer.

Should I try it myself first?
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
What gutter sealing looks like in California
Plenty of Scottish homes have harled walls, and where harling meets frames, pipes and other materials, the joint needs a flexible sealant that grips a rough surface. Private landlords in Scotland must meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping a home wind and watertight, and sound outside sealant is part of that.
If you look after a building such as Graeme High School, its movement joints, gutters and trims need looking after like any other building’s.

What we’re called out for in California
Gutter joints depend on seals that wear out. Sun and cold make the gutter expand and contract, and old seals crack or slip.
The most common problems we see are:
- Cracked sealant along roofline trims
- Drips from gutter joints and end caps
- Rain getting in around a garage door
- Internal damp traced to a gutter joint
If you let a flat or house near Polmont station, a gutter joint that drips onto the wall can turn into a damp complaint, so it’s worth checking.
Before you book anyone
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
- What happens if the job turns out different
- What preparation is included
- Are they insured?
Landlords, agents and businesses in California
Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.
Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance that we can handle for you.
How to look after the new joints
A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:
- Make sure downpipes are not blocked
- Keep ladders off the guttering
- Watch for drips in a downpour
- Clean out the gutters once or twice a year
Clear the gutters once or twice a year so water does not sit on the joints. Water left in a gutter tests every joint.
Split sealant on fascias and trims lets water in behind. Sealing it early keeps the boards behind dry and the wall below.
How it works
When we arrive, we look over the joints with you first, so there are no surprises. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work begins. Most jobs take an hour or two for a few joints, longer for a full run. Somewhere like California may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- We look at where the water is coming from and check the gutter is not broken or sagging.
- Old sealant and dirt are removed from the joint.
- The area is dried so the sealant can bond.
- Gutter or exterior sealant is applied and finished.
- We check the run and clear any debris we find while we are there.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
