- We trace the leak and confirm it’s a sealant joint.
- We remove the old sealant carefully.
- The joint is cleaned and degreased.
- We lay the new bead and tool it smooth.
- We check the finished joints and test with water where it’s safe.
Before we arrive

About our glazing silicone in Gurnard
Glass, frames and walls all move at different rates, and the silicone between them takes the strain. When it cracks or lets go, water gets in. We cut it out and reseal with a glazing silicone suited to the joint. We are often asked to deal with stained, discoloured glazing silicone and conservatory leaks at frame and glazing joints, across glass balustrade bases, rooflights and conservatory frames.
Somewhere as small as Gurnard, older homes often have timber frames set in stone or brickwork. Not every older frame suits a modern silicone bead, and sometimes a traditional sand mastic is the better choice.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

Questions from Gurnard
Do you cover smaller places like Gurnard?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Does living near the coast affect glazing silicone in Gurnard?
Coastal weather is harder on outside sealant: there’s more wind-driven rain and, closer to the shore, salt in the air. Choosing the right sealant for the frame and wall, laid at the right depth, helps it last.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes, every time. New silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so the joint is cleaned back first.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often happy for the work to be arranged.
Do you fit new glass or sealed units?
We don’t replace glass. We look after the sealant joints and can tell you if a unit seems to have gone.
Do you work for letting agents?
Yes. Domestic, commercial and hotel work are all part of what we do.
What sealant do you use on glazing?
A neutral-cure glazing silicone suited to glass and the frame. Shower screens get anti-fungal silicone.
Is the work guaranteed?
You get our one-year guarantee on all our work.

What affects the quote in Gurnard
We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- How many areas need sealing
- Whether the work is at height
Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.
What to tell us for a quote
You do not need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- Roughly how big the job is
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Where the property is
It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we will explain how we’d tackle it. When it suits you, call 0345 464 0079 or email us.
How the job changes by surface
Conservatory frames
Leaks often start where the frame meets the wall. We cut out the old sealant and reseal.
Shower screens
A screen’s wall joint and tray joint are where leaks start. We reseal both with anti-fungal silicone.
What sealant work cannot fix
We will not take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:
- A roof that has moved or dropped
- Cracked or broken glass
- Rotten or badly damaged frames
If you are not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Can I do it myself?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
Gurnard homes and the weather
Gurnard is close to the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. That’s hard on glazing joints and frame seals, especially on the side facing the sea. With historic houses such as Osborne House (about 2.3 miles east) nearby, there’s older building stock in the area around Gurnard as well as newer homes. In older buildings, older timber frames in brick or stone need a different approach from a modern uPVC window.
For an older house near a landmark such as All Saints' Church, replacement windows fitted into old openings often leave uneven gaps that need backing and a flexible joint.
