Surface by surface
Glass-to-glass joints
Frameless glass corners and panels are joined with silicone. We reseal with a suitable glazing silicone.
Glass-to-frame joints
Silicone at the glass edge seals it into the frame. When it splits, water can get into the frame.
Glazing silicone in Corran
We renew glazing silicone on conservatories, rooflights and glass panels plus shower screens and the bases of glass balustrades. Each joint is cut out, cleaned and resealed. If you have leaking glazing joints on a rooflight and stained, discoloured glazing silicone, we can help.
Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses, many standing in the open. Exposed frames and sills take the full force of wind-driven rain, so the mastic there works hard.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

FAQs for Corran
Does living near the coast affect glazing silicone in Corran?
Coastal homes put outside sealant through more weather than inland ones, so the choice of sealant and the preparation matter even more. It’s worth checking the walls that face the sea first.
Will you come out to Corran?
Yes. Corran is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Do I need to be at home?
That depends on where the joints are. Inside work needs someone to give us access, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.
Do you fit new glass or sealed units?
That’s not something we do. A misted unit has failed inside, and a glazier needs to replace it.
How long will you be here?
It depends on the size of the job, but as a guide it takes a few hours for most jobs. We will give you a better idea when we quote.
Will you leave a mess?
No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.
Where do you work from?
We’re a Crawley-based firm. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.
What should I tell you?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.
The process
Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes a few hours for most jobs, and the area is left clean. In smaller Scottish places, parking is normally less of an issue than access and distance. Tell us how to find the property and how to reach the work.
- We start by finding the leak and making sure sealant is the cause.
- We cut out the failed silicone, taking care of the glass and frame.
- The glass and frame are cleaned and degreased.
- Glazing silicone suited to the joint is applied and tooled.
- We check the joints and, where safe, run water over them.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us about any water getting in
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive

Keeping the joints in good condition
Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. We suggest:
- Check the gutters above the glazing for debris
- Avoid strong solvents on or near the sealant
- Open vents or windows to let moisture out
- Do not use a blade near the sealant
Avoid scraping near the new silicone when cleaning the glass. Stick to a soft cloth.
Shower screen leaks can go unnoticed. Water can soak into the floor or reach the room below before you spot it.

Corran homes and the weather
Corran is within about 1 mile of the coast, and homes near the sea take more wind-driven rain, with salt in the air closer to the shore. Both are hard on glazing joints and frame seals, which can dry out and crack sooner where a building faces the weather. Many older homes in Scotland have sash and case windows, and the joint between the box frame and the stone or render is traditionally pointed with sand mastic.
Around Corran, as everywhere, glazing silicone is only as good as the preparation behind it. For an older house near a landmark such as Ardgour Parish Church, the windows may be timber, sash or later replacements, and each needs the right sealant against the wall.

Landlord and commercial work in Corran
Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report. We can quote for more than one property at once.
Landlords and letting agents in Corran can book us as well as homeowners. Sealant work between tenants is a simple way to keep a property in good order before the next move-in.
What sealant work cannot fix
Sealant is not the answer to every problem, and we’ll tell you before we start. It will not solve:
- A frame that needs repairing or replacing
- Leaks from the roof covering or flashing (a roofer’s job)
- A roof that has moved or dropped
If you’re not sure, just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.

How we quote for glazing silicone
We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:
- When we can work, for business premises
- The product the joint needs
- The number and length of the joints
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
Doing several joints on one visit usually makes better use of the time than several visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. We will give you a clear price for the lot.
Helping us quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- Where the property is
- Whether it has been sealed before
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- What’s wrong with the joints now
We do not publish a price list, because every job is different. Instead, we send you a clear quote for your job. To arrange one, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Can I do it myself?
Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
