External & façade joints in Sheet, Hampshire
Movement joints in Sheet need attention? We remove the old material, prepare the joints and seal them properly, with a 12-month guarantee.
- Cracked joints where brick meets render or frames
- Joints where the bead has come unstuck
- Joints pointed up with cement by mistake
About our external mastic in Sheet
Short cuts in external joints show up within a season or two. New sealant over old, joints packed with mortar and beads with no backing all tend to fail early. We strip the joint back and start again. We work on copings & trims, façade panels and render & cladding joints, and people most often call us about plants rooting in failed movement joints and rain getting behind render or cladding at a joint.
Somewhere as small as Sheet, homes and farm buildings often face open ground, where walls and rooflines take the weather head on. Joints on those walls need a sealant that moves with the building and stays in place.
You’re covered for a year from the day we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please ring 0345 464 0079 or email us.

FAQs for Sheet
Is Sheet in your area for external mastic?
Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Sheet is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.
Is Sheet within the area you cover?
Yes, Sheet is covered. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Do you seal joints where cladding meets other materials?
Yes. Where different materials meet is one of the most common joints we seal. The sealant is chosen to bond to both sides with primer where required.
Do I have to be there?
Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.
Is it worth trying it myself?
Sometimes. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.
When will the joints need doing again?
It varies with how exposed the wall is and how much the joint moves. Signs to watch for are cracking, hardening and gaps at the edges.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes, regularly. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area to suit the site.
Where do you work from?
We are based in Crawley, West Sussex, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.
Surface by surface
Joints between dissimilar materials
Wherever two materials meet, they move differently. We seal the joint with a flexible exterior sealant so neither cracks the other.
Concrete and blockwork
Wide joints in concrete need the depth controlling carefully. We size the backing rod to the gap so the sealant is not too deep.
Why deal with it now?
It often makes sense to reseal all the failing joints on an elevation together. Joints of the same age tend to fail together. In a small place like Sheet, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.

Aftercare tips
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Keep high-pressure jets off the joints
- Act on the first splits you see
- Tell anyone working on the walls about the movement joints
- Check the sealant is paintable before painting near it
Have a quick look at the joints each spring. Watch for splits, edges coming away or growth in the joint.
Small splits are the time to act. At that stage it’s a simple cut out and reseal.
Walls and rooflines in Sheet
Historic houses like Uppark (about 4.5 miles south) are a reminder that the area around Sheet has older buildings as well as new. Where a home is older, older walls and rooflines need a sealant that moves with them and suits the material. London and the South East are among the drier parts of the UK, yet outdoor joints still have to be sealed dry, so jobs are booked with the weather in mind.
Homes close to Church of St Mary Magdalene include some older properties, and the joints between older walls, newer extensions and the roofline need a sealant that can move. Rented homes near Petersfield station change hands often, and split movement joints are easy to miss on a rental until damp shows inside.

What we cannot put right
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what new sealant will not do:
- Cutting new joints into brickwork, which is building work rather than sealant work
- Cracking across the wall rather than at a joint
- Loose or hollow render, which needs re-rendering
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.
Surfaces we seal
- Brickwork movement joints
- Joints between brick and frames
- Copings & trims
- Concrete & block
- Render & cladding joints
- Façade panels
What we’re called out for in Sheet
The wrong product in a moving joint is a classic cause. A stiff, general-purpose sealant can’t cope with a joint that moves a lot, so it pulls away from the edges.
People normally contact us when they notice one of these:
- Moss and dirt in joints with no sealant left
- Sealant that has lost its bond to the brick or render
- Old sealant gone brittle and cracked
- Rigid filler in a joint that should flex
Managing a site like Sheet Primary School? Then larger buildings have long runs of movement joint that eventually need resealing.
What to look for in a quote
- Is VAT in the price?
- Whether the sealant suits the joint
- What guarantee comes with the work
- Whether they’re fully insured
Quotes for external mastic in Sheet
We don’t publish a price list, because jobs vary so much. The quote depends on:
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- The type of sealant required
- The number and length of the joints
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
The cost depends on the amount of work, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. We give a clear quote before work begins, so you know where you stand.
Helping us quote
You don’t need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking

What happens on the day
You do not need to clear the whole room or building, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the work takes anything from a few hours to several days, depending on the building in most cases. Somewhere as small as Sheet, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- First we look over the joints with you, agree which to renew and talk through access.
- We cut out the failed sealant and rake out any dirt or growth.
- The joint faces are cleaned and primed where the sealant needs it.
- Backing rod goes in next, setting the depth and keeping the sealant off the back of the joint.
- A flexible exterior sealant is applied and tooled in a colour to suit the wall.
Preparing for the visit
- Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
