Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Winterbrook, Oxfordshire
Problem with your baths, showers and worktops in Winterbrook? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
- Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
- A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal
What affects the quote in Winterbrook
There’s no set price list. What we look at:
- Which sealant suits the joint
- Access and height
- Working hours on commercial sites
- Mould in or behind the old joints
Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.
What to tell us for a quote
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- If someone has resealed it before
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
For a quote, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with the location and a short description of the problem. You will have a clear quote before work begins.
About our bathroom resealing in Winterbrook
The bead of silicone around a bath, tray or worktop is what keeps water out of the gaps. Once it cracks or goes mouldy, water starts to find its way through and into the wall or floor. Our team cut the old bead out completely and lay a new one in anti-fungal sanitary silicone. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, sinks & splashbacks and shower trays & enclosures, and common reasons people get in touch are water getting behind the kitchen upstand and smears of silicone across the tiles.
Around Winterbrook, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. The work is the same as anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Winterbrook questions
Is Winterbrook in your area for bathroom resealing?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Winterbrook is part of that. Just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a few details of the job.
Do you cover smaller places like Winterbrook?
Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Where are you based?
Mr Mastic is based in Crawley. We cover Winterbrook and the rest of Oxfordshire.
What information do you need?
A short description and the location, with pictures by email if possible. If we need more, we’ll ask.
Does someone need to be in?
That depends on where the joints are. Inside work needs someone to give us access, and for outside work we’ll agree access with you when we book.
How long will the resealing take?
A single bath or shower takes about a couple of hours, including cutting out the old sealant. A full bathroom and kitchen can take most of a day.
What do you put in the joint?
It depends on the joint: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.
How much does bathroom resealing cost in Winterbrook?
It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. For a quick quote, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and let us know what needs doing and where.
What we cannot put right
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
- A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
Surfaces we seal
- Wet rooms
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Baths
- Basins & vanity units
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
How the job changes by surface
Baths
A bath shifts slightly every time it’s filled, so it’s filled with water before the bead goes on. The joint is then laid with the bath at its lowest point and is not stretched when it’s used.
Sinks & splashbacks
The edge of an inset sink is a common place for water to get under the worktop. Where the sealant around the visible edge has failed, we renew it.
Aftercare tips
Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
- Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
- Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
Keep bottles and razors off the sealant line, as they hold water against it. A quick squeegee after showering keeps water from sitting on the joint.
Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning normally will not remove it, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
DIY versus a professional finish
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly.

How it works
Once we are on site, we check the joints match what you told us. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. Most jobs then take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. For a village or hamlet like Winterbrook, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
- The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.
How to prepare
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Mention any tricky access
- Move anything stored near the joints

What happens if it’s left?
A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it cannot stick to what’s underneath. Water creeps under it and mould follows, so the next person has twice as much to remove. Around Winterbrook, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Bathroom resealing in Winterbrook: local notes
Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Managing a site like Cholsey Primary School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. If you live in an older home near St John the Baptist's Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Letting a property close to Cholsey station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.
